Duhon signs with Knicks

According to ESPN...

Quote:

Chris Duhon has reached a verbal agreement with the New York Knicks on a two-year contract, Duhon's agent said.

"The chance for Chris to be a starter was too much to pass up," Duhon's agent, Kevin Bradbury told 1050 ESPN New York's Andrew Marchand.

Duhon had also been talking with the Orlando Magic. Bradbury said the Magic never offered Duhon a contract.

Bradbury said the Knicks have made it clear that Duhon could start, which could mean that Stephon Marbury's days with the Knicks are numbered. Marbury is in the final year of his contract.

The agreement was initially reported by The Sporting News.

"I am just excited, I am ready to get to work for the Knicks," Duhon said, according to The Sporting News. "It's a big stage, playing in New York. It's something every player in the NBA wants."

Duhon played the last four seasons with the Chicago Bulls. He averaged 5.8 points and 4 assists per game last season. He has averaged 6.9 points and 4.5 assists per game in his career.

The Orlando Sentinel reported Thursday that the Magic expected to offer Duhon a three-year deal worth up to $10 million.

That's a good move, obviously Marbury's days are over now and Duhon is a young, 4-yr veteran with the skill to start PG with the Knicks. I'll bet he'll re-sign in two years too, he's only 25. I wonder what they'll do with Marbury, who they'll trade him for.

marbury sucks and the knick know it. the knicks are trying to get rid of marbury and randolph for sure

Well I would sure hope so. He's one of the most out-of-shape players in the league.

Plus by getting rid of him thats $13 million already off the CAP space.

A good move, but kind of questionable to have Duhon starting and running the show for the Knicks. I'm not sure he can handle the pressure and if there's one city where you definitely don't want to struggle in, its NY. With guys like Hinrich and Tinsley available, the Knicks should of gone after one of those two and have Duhon as a back-up which he's best at.

I guess we'll see though. :confused2:

for sure duhon isnt going to be a starter he isnt ready for that.
i think the knicks are going to try and get a good starting pg

No doubt about it.

But seeing as Crawford is a 6-5 SG with 20 ppg, he'll need to be at the SG, which leaves room for Robinson/Duhon at the PG.

As for the Monta Ellis situation, I say use that money for a starting SF instead of getting two young SG's with both averaging 20 ppg.

Robinson
Crawford
Pietrus (?)
Harrington
Curry

Less wins than last year.

i think gallinari will probably start and the knicks will try to get a good PG with the money they want to use to get ellis

Oh yeah I forgot about Danilo. Yeah i think he'll start for them. He'll be better than Quentin for sure.

Starbury's contract is a big load and it might be too hard to get off the shelves, they may have to buy out his contract. Or they might be trading him along with David Lee. David Lee has been heavily rumored to be traded.

Yeah but just think, if they can get rid of him, they just lost about 1/3 of their CAP space.

And I'm not too big on the idea of trading Lee. He just reached his prime and had a pretty good season. Especially for a bencher backing-up Randolph.

Gurk 07-06-2008 07:55 PM

i think lee should start and bring that energy in the first quater of the game

well, duhon's talking about starting in NYC. how can a team with $33 mil in guaranteed PG contracts sign a career bench PG as their starter???

...only in NYC, and it saddens me very much to say that...

That is truly sad. Walsh clearly knows shit about management.
