Vince??

Discuss?

When Vince was a rookie...I don't think I had Internet..or if I did I for sure never read any sports articles. I did a quick search on ESPN to see if there were any articles written about him back in his rookie year..couldn't find any. Tried google but couldn't find anything either.

My view:

I've actually been thinking about this for awhile, basically since Griffin's NY game way back. the way Griffin is exciting people the way he recklessly attacks the rim..it does remind me of what made Carter a superstar his first 3 years in the league - phrases like "defying gravity" "shattering laws of physics" "Air Canada taking flight" etc etc. if you all remember, after his third year in the league, most people had him a sure HOFamer...comparing him to Air Jordan himself.

here's an example of an article for Vince after a couple of years in the league:
Is VINCE Carter The Next Michael Jordan? - Toronto Raptors basketball player | Ebony | Find Articles at BNET

In my opinion, as the above article shows, even being in Canada, I think Vince was a greater star in his rookie year than Griffin...but then...how about Durant?

I came by this article comparing Durant and Carter:
Kevin Durant: Is He a One-Hit Wonder, the Next Vince Carter? | Bleacher Report

Just thought it was interesting topic, at least for me!

(ooo just realized this is my 100th post on the forum, nice celebratory topic haha)

It totally does. However, I actually expect Blake to be MUCH more promising, because he has a crazy work ethic. I think it's on YouTube. Vince was more talented, but it didn't pan out.

The only thing that could stop Blake from being one of the most if not THE dominate big men in future of the NBA is injury...

with that said...sadly... he plays for....

He is a spectacle to watch.
He needs to get on a better team.
All in all, love watching him play.

There aren't many PF's better than him right now. Amare, Pau, Duncan, Dirk.... and that's about it.

What strikes me as similar to what Vince went through is the backlash he is getting from many star players around the league. Vince was often criticized and compared based on what he didn't do well, perhaps cause he played in a whole other country.

Watching Griffin has made me a fan when I was once a doubter. Dude is a legit stud PF. I thought he'd be a lethargic, slow, heavy version of Amare.... I was so wrong. TorRaptor may hate this, but he is so much better than Bosh.

Couldn't disagree more.... have you watched the Clipps lately? I'm loving their resurgence. B-Diddy is playing again, Gordon is playing well, though I'm not sold he's as good as hyped.... Aminu is looking like a huge steal, DeAndre Jordan is emerging to be a legit starter that really impacts the flow of trhe game.....

I hope he stays... tired of these weak-willed stars having to join up cause they don't have the stones to win on their own.

i remember telling a friend about two months into the season that i haven't seen anyone dominate the highlight reels or have his highlights hyped this much since vince.

this guy has a skillset the PF position has never really seen before. he's a hybrid combination of lamar odom and amare stoudemire, with karl malone's body. that's the best way i can describe him. when that jump shot comes, and it will because he's a fucking workhorse, watch out league.

i see him as one of those guys, 30 years down the road i'll be able to say "yeah, i watched him play."

I still laugh that some here refused to accept trading Bosh in an attempt to get him.

although is arms look shorter in length to me than malone's. could be the tighter uniforms and longer shorts.

its probably because of the knee injury that scares people into thinking he might end up like oden
