Dick Bavetta WTF

Can't believe some the calls (and non-calls) that went down today. Most obvious was when Lowry took an elbow to the face and Bavetta called it AGAINST Kyle.

When anyone gets something like that wrong in a professional setting, there's usually bound to be some sort of discipline or whatever. Maybe Dick will get a talking to. But judging on looks alone i'd say he's too old to be working.

Am i the only one who sees a problem?

jeffb 01-12-2014 12:21 AM

yeah, it was pathetic. could have cost us the game.

At 74 it's time to retire the dick

Kriz 01-12-2014 12:45 AM

he's usually known for doing favored calls...

I have no doubt he uses Just for Men every day.

Dikc was looking old but he still gets up and down the court which is kind of impressive.

Come on guys, he blows some calls so you blame his age? What about all those other refs that regularly blow calls? I don't see anyone calling for their retirement. Unless you watch Dick ref most his games and blow calls in most them, you have no grounds to call for his retirement, especially on the grounds that he's too old.

I've seen enough of him in recent years to say he's blows calls and should retire. And i would also say several current NBA refs should retire as well.

ONE BEING: :ref:

Once he is gone the league will be somewhat a better place :yeah:

Bavetta, Palmer and Crawford. Get rid of those guys and Im happy. They tend to be bad everytime.

Its funny also how I know no other ref by name. I know lots of faces, but only those three guys by name. Could it be that one remembers those who have made bad calls the most?

Well said.

bavetta and crawford are 2 of the most senior refs in the league. we know them because they have been reffing nba games as long as many of us have been alive, and they have done countless playoff games and marquee matchup games over the years. palmer was the first female nba ref. she was all over the sports news, and highlighted all the time in her first couple of seasons. it makes sense that you know those ones.

that said, crawford is an attention whore, and bavetta is comically old and pretty entertaining (he did that allstar game race with barkley a couple of seasons ago). they both seek the spotlight.

Well I havent been watching NBA that much before 2004, so Bavetta and Crawford being there long time doesnt really explain it for me. And I dont read sports new that much either that I would even know that Palmer was the first female ref in NBA. Of course as she is a rarity, it makes sense she sticks out.

For the other two I would rather think its the second part about seeking the spotlight. And the bad calls they make doing so.
