Default The Detroit Pistons

Did they just mail it in against the Magic! They were on top for most of the game and they totally sucked the last 8 minutes of the 4th quarter. Charlie V is a momentum killer! Every time he touched the ball he either threw up a brick or turned it over. I am glad he is not on the Raps anymore! All those guys on that team are totally just collecting cheque's. I used to want to try and get Ben Gordon for some time (on the Raps) but he doesn't even look like half the player he was with Chicago. Prince looks done, Rip looks uninterested.

It's awful to see Detroit suck so bad.

They always had a team full of blue-collar guys that worked their butts off. I really believed that Joey D knew what he was doing and they would be secure for a long time.

Now it looks like he not only earned some of his PG skills from Zeke, but also his front office ability.

The pistons look great on paper, but a disaster in reality.

The Piston's problem: Joe Dumars.

I don't think he has any plan whatsoever.

The Pistons died when Chauncy Billups was traded for Allen Iverson and RIP, McDyess and company acted like a bunch of babies who mailed it in. That team has been tanking for a few years now, mostly because they have a bunch of lazy bums leading that team.

Jerebko was their best player before he got injured.

Their season was over as soon as he went down.

Rip and Prince are the type of players that winning teams need to add that last piece to there puzzle.

Dumars as a G.M, 5 or 6 straight Eastern Finals, 2 Eastern Banners, 1 NBA Championship, this guy gets a pass for at least a decade

He had help, and when that help left, things went into the toilet.

yup. i remember reading about Rip's reaction to the Billups trade and he was pretty devastated about it. Obviously he had a very tight bond with Billups and someone else too that was mentioned (can't remember who it was). Anyways for sure that trade kind fo shook the foundation of that team and it's been a decline ever since.

Also going after guys like Ben Gordon and Charlie Villanueva doesn't help your cause.

After John Hamond's departure it just went downhill from there.

At the same time, that team was also sinking for the last few seasons with Chauncy. They were consistantly drifting away from the championship level they were once playing at. They had quite a few chances to get back to that level and it just wasn't happening. The work ethic wasn't there as a team. So I can't fault Dumars for trying to make a move.

Losing Sheed, Big Ben (for a time) and Billups were blows that no team could withstand.
