Meniscus injuries don't bring you out too long right? It sucks but thank goodness it's not another ligament.

Jeremy Lin had one and was out for 8 months during his Linsanity era. Then Rockets signed him during that offeseason. I thought Artest had one too but he came back 3 days later if Im not mistaken. So basically out for remainder of season

Really sucks for Rose and its so unfortunate it happened

Bill Walton got injured at the end of his MVP season, hardly played for the next 5 years and never fully recovered. He still had a few solid seasons later in his career as more of a role player.

Sometimes the press bugs me. They were all "It might be another MCL injury." I wish they'd not float stupid rumors about injured players, when they don't know what the injury is.

It depends on where the tear occurred. Depending on where, he could be looking at 1-2 weeks like MWP or 3+ months like Westbrook, (who also got an infection so he was out longer than he should have been) according to what I've read. Not necessarily the rest of the season.

Hopefully Rose is still decent, sad story though.

well the bulls are missing a secondary star, maybe they should consider trading some pieces and clearing space for Carmelo Anthony and also at the same time make like the spurs back when Duncan was in the draft and lottery up

trading Deng, and resting Noah who is always playing hurt, also finding a trade partner for boozer, who they might be able to deal to the nets who played with deron Williams for years would be a good match

boozer for garnett and whatever else gets that deal done, a buyout eventually for kg

also they have charlotte bobcats pick this which is protected up 10, and with the way the bobcats are going it looks like the bulls will be getting a draft pick in the range of 10 to 16

The messed up thing is how easily he is getting these injuries, a simple back door cut to the basket and he steps awkwardly.. you can't prevent that, it's just Derrick playing like Derrick..

the play where he originally tore his ACL and now this one both looked so harmless. I feel so bad for him.

Such a shame.

Would love to see the Bulls go for a guy like Wiggins. One of the few teams that I would like to see him play for.

Derrick Rose of Chicago Bulls out for season after knee surgery - ESPN Chicago

Quote:
Chicago Bulls point guard Derrick Rose will miss the rest of the season after undergoing knee surgery Monday, the team announced.

The 2010-11 league MVP had the medial meniscus repaired in his right knee at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

The surgery was to be performed by Dr. Brian Cole, who performed the ACL surgery on Rose's left knee in May 2012.

Heading into the procedure, there appeared to be two options for repairing Rose's knee. He could have had the meniscus, or a portion of it, removed and been back on the floor in a matter of weeks. Having the meniscus reattached, which appears to be the route Rose and the Bulls took, sidelines him four to six months.

While the first procedure would have put him back on the court sooner, many players who have had that procedure, including Miami Heat star Dwyane Wade, say that it causes more problems later in a player's career.

It appears that with the 25-year-old Rose the organization chose to take the longer approach with the hope that he can return to being the same player as before his first knee injury.

Before the surgery, coach Tom Thibodeau said the team felt bad for Rose after all the work he had put in to return.

"I talked to him at length last night. He's in good spirits," he said. "About as well as can be expected under the circumstances. And he's already thinking about his rehab, and typical Derrick -- concerned about his team, his teammates. But that being said, we can't feel sorry for ourselves. We're the Chicago Bulls. We have one goal, that's to win. And I believe we have the personnel in that locker room to get it done."

Thibodeau said he expects Rose to make a full recovery but acknowledged there is disappointment throughout the locker room.

"There's disappointment for Derrick because of the type of person he is," Thibodeau said. "And he's such a great teammate along with being a great player. But I think we have an understanding of what we need to do. We know we can't feel sorry for ourselves. So we have to circle the wagons and then go out there and get the job done."
