Derrick Rose sidelined with sore knee

Geez this is nuts. The first 2 draft picks are already injured. One in a practise, and the other in a Summer League game. :frustrated:

''It's fine,'' Rose said after the Pacers game. ''When I made my last layup, I jump-stopped a little bit and I landed a little hard. But I should be all right. I would like to play all the games. They'd have to sit me out.''

The injury isn't considered serious, but Bulls officials wanted to take a conservative approach. JamesOn Curry started in Rose's place Wednesday. Rose might play today against New Jersey.

its probably nothing major at all...
these guys are the most important players right now for these teams, so any litle bruise or 'knock' will definitely keep them out for precautionary measures.

Well I realize that it's just that it's hilarious how the two best players in the draft class are the first to get injured. Not only that but they both happened within like what? Two weeks after they were drafted? But yeah it's nothing major.

Meh

It's probably because if Sonny Weems jams a knee no one cares enough to report it :haha:

But yeah, like you said, these injuries aren't major, and I doubt they point towards any potential long term issues.

People (on this board - you know who you are) were calling Beasley a pussy when he got that hard elbow to the chest and sat out - he only responded with a 30 point, 12 rebound game - granted, it was just summer league, but impressive for a first game.

'trane 07-10-2008 11:52 AM

..and his next couple of games have been sub-par.

we'll see when he faces real NBA players.

MangoKidHoops 07-10-2008 12:01 PM

The second game was subpar. His last game was decent however. 17 and 9. That's alright.

For Michael Beasley? Playing against a bunch of benchers and scrubs?

I mean, it's not horrible or anything but he should at least be averaging about 20 ppg no?

MangoKidHoops 07-10-2008 12:08 PM

How did Brandon Roy do against summer league? Bargnani? Lebron stunk up the joint in summer league. I guess he turned out shitty, huh?

Adequate Swag 07-10-2008 12:53 PM

Beasley shot 9-21 in his 28 point game. It's not like he's out there setting the world on fire.

But yeah...summer league is a less than legitimate indicator for guys who are already guaranteed roster spots. If you want some good takeaways from summer league, focus on the guys that are battling for roster spots or playing time, not the lottery picks.

And must I remind everyone that Bellinelli lit up summer league last year? I think he had more points last summer than he had minutes last season.

Don't read too much into any first round pick's summer league numbers.

Gurk 07-10-2008 02:02 PM

yea where is Bellinelli never saw him get minutes with GS he is a good player though

The MVP of West Hollywood 07-10-2008 06:18 PM

KD struggled in SL too

Major 07-10-2008 06:25 PM

To me. I think Summer Leagues are not worth at all. I mean judging by past performances by Rose, Beasley, Durant etc, and seeing how they perform in the regular season just proves that they don't really change things at all for players. It's not like it's practice either; they're playing against benchers and guys who haven't played a game in 2 years or so.

jumplvlan23 07-11-2008 12:14 AM

Well people have got to remember... Rose has tendinitis in his knee. Not a good sign at all.

Major 07-11-2008 08:57 AM

Yes but it has been said it's not serious at all. He won't be missing any of the regular season games.
