Bulls Derrick Rose on the doubters: 'It's gonna be funny seeing them eat their words'

Quote:
Derrick Rose has only played a total of 49 games over the past three seasons due to a torn left ACL as well as a torn right meniscus, leaving many to wonder whether or not he can return to his 2010-11 MVP form.

But while speaking at the unveiling of his adidas D Rose 5 shoe on Sunday, Rose delivered a message to all those who doubt his ability to bounce back from the two surgery-requiring injuries.

"I still have goals. Seeing those doubters out there, it's gonna be funny seeing them eat their words." -@drose

Rose, who stated over one month ago that he could play if the season started today, will begin practicing with Team USA on Monday as the squad prepares for the upcoming FIBA World Cup in Spain. He's reportedly on track to take part in the tournament and coach Mike Krzyzewski recently said that there are no restrictions on his game.

At the 2010 FIBA World Championship, Rose was Team USA's starting point guard.
Man I hope he comes back the same. Probably won't. Love how he's talking though. Was my favourite player.

I'm conflicted. He's an amazing talent, so I don't like seeing that ability crushed by an injury. However, I want the Raptors to be as competitive as possible. Maybe he can come back and play 90%, giving us some dope highlights, but Pau causes drama in the Bulls lockeroom which causes them to lose some games they shouldn't. Here's to hoping that happens!

I'm still a big fan of his, and i hope he settles down with the constant attacking style. He can still be a huge contributor without having to play at his MVP level.

They are? Without him they kinda suck imo. And Gasol is another injury prone player. Who are their backup PG's....Hinrich, Lucas III

IMO he needs to talk less and prove that he can overcome his injuries physically and mentally, something he has failed to show the past few years

I was just about to post the same thing. While I don't wish it, I think he will end up eating his own words.

Rose deciding to play for Team USA would be a pretty big risk and mistake. Him making the team is not a given either. He hasn't play since either the end of 2011 or start of 2012. His play that season, especially his shooting) and the few games back last year was not what anyone would consider elite. Rose is not what Rose was at the start of his career, let alone coming back from injury.

It's a sad situation what happened to him, 2 serious injuries while just getting into his prime. Hopefully he'll be effective again but I believe he'll need to change his style of play to maintain any longevity in the league. He should try to go about it humbly instead of talking trash...

Nobody's doubting D-Rose's skill capacity or big game moments. We just wonder when that knee is going to give out again. It's nothing personal, it's purely a physical doubt.

It's good that he's motivated, but I can understand the doubt people may have. His last injury look so harmless, a simple cut to the basket and messes up ACL

He can return back to form as long as that leg stays strong, because he had the same explosiveness before injury but was very rusty

Bulls have to learn how to play with Rose in the line up, it's been a few years.

He said he is going to use floaters to avoid contact more, and play off the ball more. Great, but that's not the same player.

I really hope that he comes back the same player he was pre injury, as pre injury Rose was the funnest player to watch in the league. His explosiveness and quick burst may have been the best ever.

People seem to forget that he was the youngest MVP in NBA history.

Doubters have every reason to doubt

I'm sorry it's been something like 2 and half years it's over. The guy is fragile next Brandon Roy

I just liked seeing Chicago squirming to make the playoffs. With a healthy D-Rose, the Bulls should be able to beat more of the stinky teams in the NBA.

Squirming? Didn't they have the same record as us?
