Nets Deron Williams to Turkey?

Besiktas agreed to terms with Deron Williams? | Turkey | Europe | Sportando

It seems more than just a rumor.

I remember he considered the idea to play in Europe during NBA lock. But Besiktas? I really wanted to see Deron in Euroleague, not Eurocup...
Besiktas also wanted Shaq, they were sure he will join them... But D will is even better catch.

Looks like some player just want to play some "real" games before the NBA starts again, not only practice for 6 month

Just crazy owners. ''Video game'' sign, they have a lot of cash and do what they want. Just like Iverson deal. Iverson was mediocre player, but highly overpaid. It was possible to sign way better assets, but Besiktas doesn't wanted valuable players, they just wanted ''Iverson''. Just like LA wanted David Beckham and so on...
D Will is a good player, but again, I believe money badly spent.

Deron Williams is the best PG in the NBA imo... Can't wait to see how his game translates overseas. I think he will do well and I don't care if it's not a Euroleague team.

Not every NBA player can be like Sonny and get on a Euroleague club. Too much supply coming from the US with the lockout.

In the end this is a great opportunity for European basketball to be exposed to Americans during the lockout... take advantage Europe! The time-zone differences are annoying but hopefully ESPN will have access to highlights.

Euroleague and Eurocup are International club tournaments. If you interested in Soccer, Euroleague is like UEFA Champions League, while Eurocup is UEFA cup. Domestic leagues champions and other best teams play in Euroleague, while worse best Euro teams play in Eurocup. Yeah, it's like b league.

What happens if the lockout situation is resolved before the season starts. Does Deron still have to play in Turkey? lol

I believe he will be getting 200k euros monthly and he will have an option to go back to the nba any time, but he is not even gonna play in euroleague... i honestely dont understand why would he sign with a team that doesn't compeate in the highest level in europe?

Deron Williams debuts for Besiktas

Quote:
Montepaschi Siena - Besiktas 91:93

Deron Williams (191-PG-84, college: Illinois) debuted for Besiktas. The guard led his team to a narrow 93:91 win over Montepaschi Siena in Bormio. Deron Williams delivered 14 points for the winners. Marcelus Kemp (196-G-84, agency: SportsTalent, college: Nevada) unloaded 19 points to lead the effort. The teams were tied at 20 after ten minutes of action. But Besiktas stepped on the gas in the second frame. They grabbed a 50:39 lead after ten minutes of action. The margin grew at 13-point mark at the final break. Montepaschi Siena cut the deficit in the fourth frame but Besiktas hung on to escape with a narrow win at the end. David Hawkins (194-G-82, college: Temple) accounted for 16 points for the Turkish team. Pietro Aradori (192-G-88) answered with 17 points for Montepaschi Siena. DaJuan Summers (203-F-88, college: Georgetown) notched 19 points for the Italian champions.
