Default Derek Fisher agrees to 5year 25 mil to coach Knicks

LINK RealGM - was this posted?

Quote:
The New York Knicks and Derek Fisher have agreed upon on a five-year, $25 million deal for him to become head coach.

Phil Jackson has ramped up his pursuit of Fisher in recent days.

Jackson was unable to secure a deal with his first choice Steve Kerr.

Fisher will retire from the NBA as a player, appearing most recently in the Western Conference Finals for the Oklahoma City Thunder.

Well.....reports are they low balled him first....I don't think Kerr had a number in mind...this move seems like a big middle finger to Kerr. Odd Odd Odd but it is Dolan....

Quote:
The Post has learned Jackson’s initial offer to Kerr was a lowball of three years, $13.2 million. That offer stuck for more than a week before the Warriors got involved Tuesday.

...Had the Knicks originally offered Kerr five years, $22 million — $4.4 million a year — he probably would have closed the deal before Golden State could reenter the fray. Jackson only bumped the offer to four years in response to Golden State’s offer.

A source said Kerr wasn’t moving across the country for less money than the Warriors were offering. The Knicks have insisted Jackson, not owner James Dolan, handled the negotiations.
And from Frank Isola
Quote:
Kerr wanted to stay closer to his San Diego home but was also concerned about working for Garden chairman James Dolan, who undermined the potential hiring by originally offering Kerr a three-year deal. Kerr eventually received a five-year, $25 million deal from Golden State.

Although it had been known for months that Kerr was Jackson's primary target, Knicks ownership did not appear to support the hiring.

As a Union Leader, perhaps Fish can convince Stoudamire to renegotiate his contract, to help preserve the future of competitive Knicks basketball?

no. He's not a center. And way too injury prone.

Much more effective as a PF. We don't need another undersized big for a center on our roster. let alone an injury prone one who looks to be done.

The knicks can't amnesty anyone, including Amare. They used their amnesty on Billups.

I can see Amare using his ETO and then signing a longer, more reasonable contract with the Knicks. I honestly would be surprised if he didn't.

The Knicks just keep on delivering more lollz season after season.

I don't dislike Fisher, but I have low expectations that he can man handle these chuckers into a team.

Good times ahead!
