with the much needed rebounding strength of Petro, Nene plus a cast that are high scorers (Smith, Martin, Carmelo and Nene) plus an old school "pass first" PG of Billups which can distribute properly (unlike AI) the nuggets could have a chance making it past the first round and even the western finals.

OR
Carmelo will be another Tracy McGrady that will always be stuck in the first round for the rest of his career.

Its still a bit premature to say, the standings out west are changing daily so its all about the match ups, of which we have no idea, well not yet any way.

Amundson plays for the Suns not the Nuggets, Nene headbutted him a few games back. Also Balkman is hardly a scorer, he averages less than 15 mins and 5 points per game. Its even weirder you call Petro a rebounder, yeah hes suppose to be he plays he less than Balkman and avg like 3 rebounds a game.

If the playoffs ended today and Denver were to play Utah in the first round, there is no doubt in my mind that the Jazz would wipe the floor with the Nuggets. The only team I see Denver being able to beat in the first round is Portland. Sheep in wolf's clothing.

Ummmmm... yeah... Amundson plays for Phoenix. Him and Nene got into it not too long ago. I believe you're thinking of Birdman Andersen.

zachus, if the Nuggets played Utah, Denver would win cuz the Jazz aren't good playing off their home-court and since Denver is a higher seed I think that will help them win in the first round

I'd never count out any team coached by Jerry Sloan. Especially in the playoffs.

This is an example of why the west is so good. It's hard to predict and the matchups are wonderful.

2-7 seed isn't going to mean a whole lot in the West

Dallas is clearly not that good, LA is obv. very good, and every other team is just streaky as hell. Gotta like DEN now that they have Chauncey but tbh I cannot remember a first-round that should be as competitive as this year's will be.

If they remain in second seed then yes. However, if they take a lower seed then no.

JR Smith is starting the game unconscious. Dude hit 2 deep 3s in the first quarter, (one a buzzer beater) and one now as the second quarter started.
