Knicks David Lee Working on his 3s

Quote:
Mark Bartlestein, the agent for David Lee, said that Lee is putting up 500 three-point jump shots per day so far this off-season. Lee is working on improving his long-distance game.

Bartelstein said Lee's preference is to stay in New York but he expects his client to receive heavy interest from other teams this summer.

In other news, the thought of Bosh for another 3 pt shooting big man.

Now he only has to change his name to Leone and he'll be a Raptor for sure.

He should be working on ways to improve his defence. Working on his 3s is totally unnecesary, no one guards him in the midrange anyway where he was a good shooter and got a ton of shots off from. This is only going to hurt his game, especially on the offensive boards if hes out at the 3 pt line

who says he's not working on his D, just adding more to his offensive arsenal
if he overuses 3's it a problem, but if he's just doing it 3-5 times a game to stretch the D, find an open spot and gets a pass for an open shot, its okay

3-5 times a game? I hope you're including fakes and not actual shot attempts. Dude, that's a lot of 3s. It takes him away from the boards, which is one of his primary strengths. Yes, he might currently be working on his D, too. However, if he wants to become a consistent and legitimate All-Star, he needs to put in a fair amount of work on his D. I agree with Thriller that it would be in Lee's interest to spend as much time as possible working on his D.

it sort of included passes, should have been more clear
if he has the 3 in his arsenal, it draws the big man away from the basket so he can make a pass to the cutting SG, etc...

why the hell is he working on a 3 point shot?
if he wanted to improve his offense, the only thing he should work on is a post up game... or at least master a midrange shot. but a 3 point shot? that is so dumb.
his game revolves around husstle play and rebounding. if he starts settling for 3 pointers, his game goes down the drain.
bad move, Lee. very bad move.
i actually hoped we could swing a deal for him in the offseason if we lose CB, but now i dont want him anymore.

The other problem is if someone closes out hard on his 3 pt shot, he doesnt have the quickness to take 3 dribbles and get straight to the rim, or have a counter move if he puts it on the floor and gets cut off. Its a turnover or offensive foul waiting to happen, whereas compared to Bargs, Bargs has some pullup shots and get get to the rim in a couple different ways if closed out on.

Whereas if Lee is run at in the midrange area, it only takes him 1 maybe 2 dribbles to get to the rim and its harder to cut off.

Adding the 3 into his game is beyond stupid. Its like 2 years ago when the report came out Amare was doing it, which was worse.

I'm guessing that is what he was asked to work on in the off-season.

he already hits tons of 2pts shots from not-too-inside the arc, nothing bad if he's trying to add those couple of feet to his shot range

I don't see why everyone is so up in arms here. David Lee is a smart basketball player. Up until this point when he catches the ball at the top of the key all he's been able to do is pass - being able to knock down an open three every once in a while will add a completely different dynamic to whatever offense he's a part of next year. Obviously if he starts settling it's a net negative, but you could say that about any cat developing his three point shot.

Anyway he can only improve on his positional & Team defense he will never be a good shot blocker/steals man!
