Grizzlies Darrell Arthur out for the season with a torn Achilles tendon

He's not one of Memphis's main guys, but he was a good rotation player for them last year. Apparently the Grizz are going after Dante Cunningham as a replacement.

From NBA.com:
Quote:
Memphis forward Darrell Arthur will miss the season after an MRI exam confirmed a torn right Achilles tendon.

The Grizzlies announced the injury Tuesday. The 6-foot-9, 235-pound Arthur was hurt in practice Sunday and had the exam Monday. The team says he is scheduled for surgery within the next week but is expected to be ready for the start of the 2012-13 season.

Arthur, 23, averaged career highs with 9.1 points, 49.7 field goal percentage, 0.79 blocks and 20.1 minutes over 80 games last season. He averaged 7.1 points and 15.5 minutes during the Grizzlies' 13 playoff games last spring.

he's the only back up at PF for randolph, they have no one else so they definitely need to find a replacement

The Memphis Grizzlies have swapped guard Greivis Vasquez to the New Orleans Hornets for guard/forward Quincy Pondexter in a move designed to boost their depth with Darrell Arthur out for the season.

The Grizz acquired Cunningham who can't replace Arthur on offence but will bring good defence. Another problem is they could get away with playing Arthur with Randolph and I dont think they can do that with Cunningham, he just isnt big or good enough. Rumor has it theyre going after Speights too but Speights is chucking deadweight IMO. They need a backup pf/c and quickly.

Amir johnson for OJ Mayo (get rid of Amir's contract and trade Mayo for, perhaps, a top 15 draft pick)

That actually makes sense if you think about it. Amir would be a great fit there, and OJ could start and finally get his chance to prove hes a top flight SG here. And it'd also free up Davis to get all the minutes at PF

If OJ were traded to Toronto, does DeMar start at small forward?
