Dalembert and 16 being moved?

From the sounds of things, Houston has found a way to use Dalembert as a means to move the #16, though the source did not reveal the other team involved in the trade. Stay tuned to HOOPSWORLD to follow this developing story.

Any chance the Raps are in on this? Not sure if they fit the profile.

Why would we want Dalembert at this point? That's not us.

Edit: Dalembert has a TO for 6.7Mil or am I wrong there?

DanH 06-21-2012 03:33 PM

He's an expiring next year and is in fact only guaranteed 1.5 million this year if he is waived before July 8th.

Now, it is Hoopsworld, so there's probably a few erroneous or missing bits here, but still - if they are looking to take on a player like Calderon for a rental, assuming they are losing Dragic, would this not be the sort of move they would make?

Oh, and it would be well worth it to pay his salary just to be able to see the Dally-Leo halftime interviews.

Dalembert is a center, who would help cover for JV until he develops into a starter. add to that we'd be getting a pick, why not do it. that way we'd wave the 8, and 16, and dalembert, for JC and maybe davis to sweeten the pot for them. I'd do it in a flash. Then you see whether it's worth it to move both picks for say charlotte's second pick, or keep both, or trade one and keep the other. Imagine this.

FA pg
DD/rivers
AI/JJ
Bargnani/AJ
dalembert/JV/gray

well that looks very, very nice to me.

Lowry/Dalembert/#16

For

#8/Jose/Amir

Don't pick up the TO on Dalembert, sign Batum.

Lowry
Derozan
Batum
Bargnani
Valanciunas

Superjudge 06-21-2012 03:53 PM

cool, we get the same players or worse, but one way shittier pick...nice work on that

dfunkie1 06-21-2012 03:54 PM

we like giving things away in toronto land

You're getting greedy. :p

I remember BC saying the market for a first round pick this year is incredibly high, so much so that he had to settle for a late 2nd rounder for Barbosa. We aren't going to get a second pick cheap. Jose and Amir might not be enough for Dalembert and 16 alone.

dfunkie1 06-21-2012 03:57 PM

and it keeps getting worse

Jose at the moment I would say is on par with or better than Lowry. However the reason we would do this trade is because while Jose is on the downslide of his career, Lowry is climbing still. A title contender would rather have jose than lowry at this point, but a building team like ours would prefer the potential, i.e lowry.

Ahhh, he's not on par.

Ball Don't Lie 06-21-2012 04:29 PM

I dont think many people saw what Lowry was doing pre injury. That would be a great trade for us.

LX 06-21-2012 04:32 PM

Lowry could make this team better in a hurry. And he would likely fit better with what Casey likes to do.

Dark Knight 06-21-2012 04:42 PM

Lowry would give us that Jason Kidd that Casey has been lacking for his Dallas North.

Lowry = Kidd
Stevenson = DeMar
Marion = James Johnson
Dirk = Bargnani
Chandler = Valanciunas

dfunkie1 06-21-2012 04:43 PM

i definitely want lowry here more than anyone else, but that's a horrible trade.

there's no reason we should giving up our pick if we're giving up jose and amir. every time i look and see a deal here, it seems that everyone feels obligated to give away our assets just because the grass is always greener.

the only issue with that is that our players are the half of their players

Which means we should only get to the East-Semi Finals... which I'm cool with. :)

dfunkie1 06-21-2012 04:52 PM

unless bargs started playing like dirk, i doubt we'd even make it to the playoffs. i wouldn't expect a whole lot out of jonas this up-coming season. he's going to be facing a huge adjustment with the size and speed of the game.

And are 9.6 years younger on average.

The real difference is that Demar is not the defensive factor Stevenson is. More comparable to Terry, frankly (style wise - long way to go in terms of impact - but you've got those 10 years of development sitting there).
