Awful deal. Jones sucks. Signing him longterm is a cap killer waiting to happen. Hes an 11th man. Ask the DEN fans. The guy cant shoot, rebound, score, pass, has no bball IQ and is a thug. Youre locked into Dunleavy/Jones at your 2 spot for 3+ more years for 50+ mil.
Way to go Bird. And enjoy Hansbrough. Bird is turning them into the Indiana scrubs,. |

i think its a solid deal, 2.75 per year...he could come in and play about 20mins a game and provide solid defense.
i'd actually thought he'd be a good fit on the raps to start the 1st/3rd qtrs |

I think he is a dirty (that push on Kobe while he was in the air for example) and pretty bellow average player. Glad we dont get him. As a defender he was almost useless against the Lakers getting multiple fouls in the starting minutes of the games and he gives you 0 on offense.
Delfino>Him by a mile. |

He isn't worth over 2 mil/yr imo- he's an above average defender with no offense outside of dunks. But players are likely going to tax you when they're leaving a contender to join a lottery team.
Saying that, i do kind of like what Bird is doing with that team. Putting bandaids over some of their current weaknesses until 2010-2011 when they've got around 45 million dollars in expiring contracts. |

Who cares what the fans think? Well some yeah, but their mods and best fans? I trust their opinions. Just the same with certain people on this board. A lot of their hardcore fans know what theyre talking about and Ive seen enough of Dahntay the last 4 years to know hes an absolute no talent. OOOH HES ENERGETIC AND PLAYS HARD, SIGN HIM UP. He fucking sucks. Cant shoot, dribble, pass, rebound, and has no bball IQ. Hes Bruce Bowen without the jumper and smarts(and quickness). SCRUB. |

If youve ever read anything about the Nuggets(which Im sure you have), that would give you a small glimpse into how much Karl hates Smith. He tried having him dumped for a draft pick last year if my memory serves me right. He was definately on the trade block after having a good year.
And then this year he breaks out, becoming a top 3 6th man, scoring 15+ppg, actually passing the ball, making more right plays, and attempting to play defence. In other words he finally became a good all around player this year. Now, I can see why Karl brought him off the bench, and had Jones starting simply for the fact that they did have a good balance of scoring in the starting lineup and they didnt need anything but defence out of the SG spot which Jones provided most of the time. But really besides that, what other aspect of his game do you like? What other skill does he have? And when your team is struggling to score and it is apparent to anyone with a brain that either Kleiza or Smith should be starting in the Lakers series because not only is Jones a liability on offence with no one guarding him all series and being able to double team their main guys, but getting lit up by Kobe as well, why would you continue to start Jones when hes creating a huge negative effect for the Nuggets when hes on the court? Kleiza was spreading the Lakers D out and rebounding as well, and although JR wasnt shooting well, the D was respecting him, creating open lanes for CB and Melo. The Lakers jumped on them in the 1st and 3rd qtrs because Jones was on the court. You'll see how terrible this contract is come next year when hes coming off the bench as a role player behind Dunleavy. Hes going to have no impact and hes going to have 3 pts 1 rebound on most nights and then I'll be back here telling you I told you so like with that Barrett guy and you saying hes better/going to be better than Jose. |

I think 2.5milish is an alright price for Jones, but I don't know why the Pacers would want him with Brandon Rush there, who can do everything Jones does as a stopper with way more offensive ability. Plus the Pacers have more crappy contracts than anyone, why would they add more
