All the criticism of Billy King was really premature, to say the least. Rumor has it they are still in the running for D12. People thought Riley was acting weird when he was giving away young players and giving picks to teams in exchange for them helping him gut his own roster. A big vision has to start somewhere. If the Nets get D12, this will be the prime example of how you don't judge a single move in isolation. Big plans sometimes require drastic actions.
Yes! You're starting to see it too!

All these moves will look genius if King lands night. If he doesn't, these seem like terrible franchise-crippling moves.

I think this may help if anything for Nash. If Dallas wants another shot, maybe 2 at a deep playoff run they can try and outbid us for Nash.

Or they can look at the bigger picture and offer Dragic the 10mil (less than what Nash would get) he's looking for and have a solid PG for the foreseeable future.

Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up that Nash signs with us...

That starting lineup is insane yo!

They'll need to get crafty to fill out the bench, like the move to get Evans.
I talked about this in the other thread. If they land Dwight, they will have that amazing starting lineup, with Reggie Evans on the bench, Gerald Green re-signed, and Kidd signed (he said he's going where D-Will goes). That's already 8 guys. Then, you may even get someone like J-Rich as part of the Dwight deal. That's possibly 9 guys right there. Very easy to fill up the rest of the roster from there.

With Williams done, the Nets' next priority is re-signing Brook Lopez, according to a league source. Team also hopes to keep Kris Humphries.

Yeah, I see it now.

The Nets might not land D12, but they have a decent chance. That offer isn't bad.

If you want to win a title, you have to be REALLY bold or get lucky, or a bit of both. It's so easy to sit back and shit on Knights moves, but if he pulls this off...wow.

I dont get how this will get Nash to Dallas?? Dallas lost out on Deron, and chances are Dwight won't go to Dallas either. If thats the case, Dallas getting Nash does absolutely nothing. Does anyone really think just adding Nash would get Dallas back into the Finals. If you are considering the money, how much more honestly can Dallas give Nash, and to add to this, why would Dallas still pay Nash so much money, I can't see them getting any more significant players. Or maybe I'm missing some other FA that they can sign, or maybe there is some sucker who wants to trade with Dallas to give them another star player.

Jack Armstrong said today that if we don't get Nash he thinks we'll be going after Lowry or Dragic. I really hope so. For me it's that or stick with Jose and add a SF.

Given Prokorov's willingness to spend, and I have no doubt the Nets will find a way to fill out the bench. Not sure how they will do it though.

Maybe Cuban will help out Kidd and S&T him to the Nets in exchange for a 2nd rounder, just like how the Clipps did that for Evans. Or Kidd would have to take a big paycut. They can't use the MLE on him, because I think they blew the full wad on that Teletovic guy.

As for J-Rich, I don't think the Nets can take him back due to the salary difficulties of making the deal work. Remember how we already discussed this when talking about the Nets taking back Hedo. It's tough for the Nets to send out enough salary, unless they include an additional player; Hump, Marshon and Lopez is not enough salary to take back D12 and J-Rich.

To be clear, I don't think Dallas has the best shot, I'd just prefer they be completely out of the picture by signing D-Will.

Okay, a couple of points:

1-No, Dallas won't get to the finals. But neither would Toronto.

2- Dallas has the cap space to make an offer similar to what Toronto offered.

3- Why would Dallas pay Nash? Well, even though Nowitzki + parts will not get Dallas to the finals, the Mavs will still be too good to tank. Unless they plan on moving Nowitzki and completely rebuilding, I suspect they would at least prefer to field an entertaining team rather than do nothing. They could sign Nash to a 3 year deal which runs the course of Dirk's current contract and then start the rebuild in 2 years.

Thats totally logical, but in that scenario what is in it for Nash. If Dallas isn't even in the Finals conversation, what will help attract Nash. If Nash ends up in a Raptor Jersey, at least he gets to represent Canada. If he goes Dallas, he'll just have to live with another early exit from the playoffs

Nets look pretty good and yes, they spent the mid on teletovic. They'll try to flip Hump for Ersan according to rumors. If not they'll be fine with Hump. Brooks is not a bad option at the C. DWill/JJ/Crash/Teletovic/Brooks. Plus they have or could have Humph, Evans, Green, Jones, Taylor(rookie) Sheldon Williams, Gains, James, Karaman (rookie). All have cap holds still. They'll be fine filling out the roster. Even if they traded the rights to their rookies, they might have, they should still be ok

I'm not Steve, so I can't pretend to answer that. But why would he even entertain an offer from them in the first place if he didn't find something attractive?

He's close friends with Nowitzki, has some relationships in the Dallas area, and the team would still win some games while he gets paid a fat cheque.

Well, we don't know whether Nash considers playing for the Raps as reppin' Canada. Even if he does, we don't know if he wants that. Plus, he may feel the current roster might not make the playoffs.

As for the early exit from the playoffs, he might consider that better than no playoffs. He might not want to go down as total loser.

Don't get me wrong - I hope he comes. It's probably better than the alternative, given what BC did with our pick and the offer he made to Fields. I'm just not 100% confident, since he could have said yes to us already, if representing Canada was that important to him.
