D-WILL: "It's not monkey see monkey do"

He's as good as gone....

Deron Williams has confirmed that he will not opt-in as Dwight Howard did with the Magic on Thursday.

"I will not op-in," said Williams. "It's not monkey see, monkey do."

Williams also said that he wants to retire with whichever team he commits to in free agency.

nets can't even tank for lottery any more. Not enough money in the world can get you out of that hole biznatch

DDUnreal 03-16-2012 04:27 PM

yea theyre pretty much beyond fucked if he left

Metallikid 03-16-2012 08:22 PM

Oh man, I couldn't believe it when the pick to the Blazers was only protected through the top 3. The Nets only hope at this point is winning the lotto, netting them a top-3 pick so they have some small chance that Wallace+Pick+healthy Lopez is enough for him to stay. Otherwise, the Brooklyn Nets will just be the 2000s Knicks doppelganger. :cookie:

Welcome to the big D, old friend...

Now, I'm a big fan of Deron (obviously.), but from SOME of the Nets games I've seen he's lost a bit of a step. One of the biggest concerns for me regarding Deron is his conditioning (I thought the Jazz did a terrific job of getting him in shape and keeping him in shape) and beyond a few really great games, I worry if Deron isn't as well conditioned as he once was.

However, I would love to see him in Dallas (or well, Toronto for obvious reasons) and see him in a market where he could thrive.

I didn't realize this until today. The first report I heard described it as a conditional pick, so I assumed it was protected for more than 3 spots. Wow. What a fucking huge gamble to take.

Funny thing is, just like D-Will, Wallace has a player option too. I'm not sure if he picked it up yet. If D-Will bolts, Wallace might leave too. And if he doesn't, you still might only have Wallace for one year after this season.

By the start of the 2013-2014 season, the Nets might have nothing to show for D-Will and Wallace.

They will have lost:
Favours
Kanter
Future pick from Golden State - could be a lotto (sent to Utah)
This year's pick

Jesus. That's a lot to gamble.

Yep, that's a lot to gamble. Considering they were gambling a huge part of it on Howard coming over this summer, guess who is proper fucked now?

quote made my day:yeah:

hes gone, nets are screwed.

Windex 03-17-2012 12:04 AM

Nets dug themselves into a whole bigger than Kim Kardashians va jay jay

Raptors1995 03-17-2012 01:08 AM

Not only is Deron Williams gone, but the Nets traded their 2012 first round pick (top 3 protected) for Gerald Wallace.

Raptors1995 03-17-2012 01:14 AM

For Deron Williams and Gerald Wallace the Nets gave up:

Devin Harris
Derick Favours
Enes Kanter (2011 First round pick)
2012 Golden State first round pick
Okur
Shawne Williams
2012 NJ (Top 3 protected) pick

There's a strong possibility that Deron Williams walks
