CSKA Moscow are ready to offer Kirilenko a three year $50m deal (the contract he has at Utah) in order to bring him back to Europe and the Euroleague.

3-year, $50 million? Jeez. He's not even worth that in Utah.
But really, I'm lovin' that these European clubs are making splashes - it makes things really interesting. Let's see what David Stern does. Is it gonna take losing a superstar before he lifts the salary cap? Discuss...

You wont be so happy when ticket prices go through the roof.

Gurk 09-18-2008 11:58 AM

The ticket prices are already pretty high and I don't want them to go any higher
BTW, Kirlenko is a FA

That's why I didn't renew my season tickets. I'd rather pick and choose the 4-5 games I want to attend.

I don't believe Kirilenko is a FA. Read the original post.

So what is the point of offering him the contract right now if he isn't a FA

RiceItUp 09-19-2008 01:31 AM

arrrgh... IMO Kirilenko is the one player that should not go to Europe.... He plays good bball here and Jazz should do something about this to keep him in the L. Honestly I dun care much about where Ben Gordon is gonna end up at, or how well Josh Childress is gonna play in Euroleague.

MangoKidHoops 09-19-2008 11:50 AM

Josh Childress is a very good player. I'd take him on the Raps in a heartbeat.

Yup, I didn't mind to have him with AP for the SG spot (wouldn't mind who was the starter), it would be very nice.

I really doubt ticket prices are much cheaper now than they would be without a cap. Teams are going to set a ticket price the will max out revenue since the cost of running the arena is more or less fixed (its costs the same if 10,000 show up as it does if 20,000 show up).

Caps are only in place to help smaller market teams and probably to secure profit for owners.

That being said I think the cap is going to have to go up enough to be irrelevant or be removed in the near future (same goes for NHL as well).

The cap is there to allow all teams in the league to compete. I don't see the cap getting jacked up or anything.
