Cp3 for Westbrook?

Demps Dismisses Paul For Westbrook Trade Rumor - RealGM Wiretap

Claudius 06-04-2011 06:19 PM

heh, I remember suggesting that trade @ the beginning of May or so because it makes so much sense for both teams.

th3answ3r 06-04-2011 06:26 PM

not bad for both teams but i don't think 2 guys is enough to win.

finstock 06-04-2011 06:52 PM

It would remind me of the Kidd/Marbury deal. Paul being Kidd of course - still don't think too highly of Westbrook. But if Paul notifies the FO that he's leaning towards bolting, it's probably one of the better deals on the table.

jeffb 06-04-2011 07:11 PM

I think Westbrook would be pretty good in New Orleans, love his game. OKC on the other hand would be taking the next step towards a championship.

Blaze 06-04-2011 07:39 PM

This would be a good idea, but is okc willing to rip apart its core once again? But say this trade goes through, who would then be considered the better player on OKC, Durant or CP. I say Durant and don't even think it's a contest but CP might think otherwise which may not be good for the team.

Not a contest? Really?

ClutchCity 06-04-2011 08:53 PM

Trading Westbook for CP3 is a no-brainer for OKC. The only question is, would Hornets do it? I don't think CP3/Durant would have a problem with who should have the ball in certain situations like WB/Durant do. CP3 is a willing passer and knows when to score. He's miles ahead of Westbook when it comes to bball IQ and would take this OKC team to a whole new level.

DonMughal 06-04-2011 09:24 PM

The only reason OKC wouldn't do this is because Westbrook's potential is sky high, he's young and they could get more years out of Westbrook down the road. CP3 is one of the best point guard's in the NBA, but he'll be 30 in about 4 years while Westbrook is still 22 I think. They probably just think Westbrook is going through some growing pains and needs more time to develop. Like he's already an all-star at his age.

I dunno, I'm searching for reasons why it isn't happening.

Ball Don't Lie 06-04-2011 11:02 PM

CP3 is one of the smartest players the game has ever seen. His prime will last a long time because 90+% based on his skill and smarts and <10% athleticism. He'll be near if not as good as Nash as an old man in bball years if he doesnt have a serious injury.

Theres 0 reason why OKC wouldnt do this. CP3 would turn Serge into a near legit 3rd option on OKC, and he'd raise Durants efficiency and production that much more which is scary. And add on the fact hes a better defender than Westbrook. Comeon. CP3 is better in every aspect of the game vs Westbrook besides getting to the basket with sheer athleticism. But I'll take control and good decision making over sheer athleticism any day(when the skill levels are close obviously).

We've seen flashes of westbrook thinking hes the better player/scorer. He had some terrible shot selections late game most of the playoffs. Its probable that OKC would be better off with Paul

Chiggmo 06-04-2011 11:37 PM

OKC make it to the finals on a regular basis with CP3 I think.

Westbrook would help with the semi-rebuild going on with the hornets.

TORaptor4Ever 06-05-2011 12:19 AM

Makes sense for both teams to me.

Good call by Claudius.

In terms of whose the better player. Durant is already top 3 best scorer in the game, he's lead his team to more than Paul ever did and its only his 4 year. Don't get me wrong CP is a great player and probably a future hall of famer but I have a feeling by the end of durants career, he'll be in jordan talks.

Nah I don't think Durant is THAT good. Who knows though.

halphbreedballer 06-05-2011 11:06 AM

Westbook is younger faster & is more durable than CP3

RW > CP3 IMO

how does that make any sense? It doesn't. False. A terrible lie. Wrongwrongwrongwrongwrong.

And CP would compliment Durant, as well as the rest of the team, as Thriller suggested. It simply would not matter who is considered the better player. They would make ach other and everyone else better, which would be like night and day over what happened with OKC this year.

RW > CP3 IMO

CP3 is the better shooter, passer, playmaker, decision maker, defender, blah blah blah

CP3 >>>> RW and its not even close at this point.

thought 06-05-2011 12:25 PM

CP3 and Durant would be scary.

You sound in denial but I was talking about in terms of playoffs. The most CP managed to do was was get into the second round. He's only managed to win one playoff series in his career and failed to make the playoffs last year. How is it false may I ask?
