It would be a nice legal action though. "Please make the Hornets give me to the Lakers, 'cause I read that Stern disallowed it on hoopshype.com. I ain't no fkin plantation worker."

WTF! NO! This is some serious bullshit, how can you veto a trade that wasn't even lopsided? Lakers were getting nixed in the deal, why veto? FUCK THE NBA

At least be consistent. How can you let Wade/Bron/Bosh/Riley collusion/tampering be allowed, but cancel a trade here that isn't even lopsided? It just doesn't make sense.

I could imagine, with all that tension from Odom and Gasol knowing they will just get traded again but possibly for howard instead

This here is called the NBA and all David Stern's doing...Shouldnt of given in to the owners pressuring and take authority. It was a great trade for the Hornets, I guess he doesnt want them to improve

they weren't really nixed. Apparently, it was Pau for CP3. not Pau+Odom. That's an awesome trade for Lakers.

They own the Hornets. They make the decisions. They don't own Heat/ Cavs / Raptors, and no tampering was proven. There is nothing inconsistent here.

And they own the Hornets because they were losing so much that the old owner couldn't handle the debts. It was a financial bail out. If this was English Premier League, that team would be in administration, and all the players would be getting sold off to the highest bidder. They wouldn't go around telling where to trade them to.

Why block a deal that's not lopsided? That's my question. If the deal was unfair and we got Paul by robbing the hornets, that's a different situation. But the deal was GREAT for the Hornets.

I didnt see the league veto Kwame Brown and Javaris and 1st for Gasol 3 years ago and that was lopsided
A role player, and someone who threatens to shoot teammates for Gasol

Look at that deal again, it wasn't GREAT. If Odom was included, it was ok-ish from talent point of view. But later reports said he wasn't. And then it's a crappy deal. Scola and Martin = a lot of money and a crapshot to get to playoffs. Houston's pick = mid first round.

And anyway, whoever was in that deal, you sell off your superstar, and you take on 40 mil+ in contracts WHILE Marc Cuban, Donald Sterling and the other owners are paying off your debts? While CP3 is bringing profits to the Lakers, as well as wins? And on top of that, you end up with costly roster which will make it harder to sell the team, which will lower its price and again, Cuban and others are at the losing end. Of course they are going to protest.

It was a good deal for the Hornets but it was a bad one for the league, and since David Stern is in charge of both they could do it. And if Stern does have the ability to stop any trade then for Lebron and Bosh it would have been different because they were free agent signings, sure they did it sign and trade but if he put a stop to that then it would just be screwing over Cavs and Raps even worse because they would get absolutely nothing.
