Default Columbus wants an NBA team

The NHL barely survives there.

Quote:
Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman has sent an overture letter to NBA Commissioner David Stern that Ohio's capital city would love to have an expansion or relocated team play in its downtown arena along with the NHL's Blue Jackets.

In the letter sent earlier this month and made available to The Associated Press, Coleman makes his pitch for a team in Columbus, citing the publicly-owned Nationwide Arena and the city's largest-in-the-state metropolitan population of nearly 2 million. He also wrote Columbus had a strong economic climate featuring 15 Fortune 1000 companies.

What does that have to do with an NBA team? Why not just move the Cavs to Columbus?

Dude, the reason I said that is because if a professional hockey team barely survives there, in that arena, then why would a potential owner want to go to a city where the ONLY professional league in town barely survives.

Well, good point. Maybe he thinks Basketball would do better, who knows? Maybe he's a big Basketball fan. It's kind of stupid since Cleveland has a team anyway.

The Blue Jackets have not really gave the fans anything to watch. 11season, 1playoff appearance(swept in first round). Besides the time they made the playoffs, they haven't even come close to making it a 2nd time.

The first few years there was support. There still is. Others are just waiting to watch a real NHL team. Nobody wants to watch bad hockey year in, year out.

That said, Columbus will always be a Buckeye town.

well, vancouver is always going to be talked about, but vancouver will never get a nba franchise unless the canuck owners step up, aquilinis are the gate keepers, they own rogers arena

i'm not sure if they have enough bank roll to power two franchises even though the canucks will forever be a cash grab, there success in the previous 10 years has set them up like the leafs, doesnt matter how good or bad they are, always going to sell out with top dollar

if there is a time vancouver is ready for another team its coming soon,

you almost wish nba back in the day started with toronto alone then now at this time moved to vancouver when the city finally ready
