Collison Available?

Marc Stein reports that the Hornets could give up Darren Collison if they can get rid of either Posey, Peja, or Okafor as well. Would Collsion and Okafor fit?

I'd take Collison and any of the others except Peja.

If Bosh leaves, I would take Okafor to put alongside Bargnani...James Posey would also be a nice piece off the bench. What would NO want from us? Turkocrap? JJ?

U know what'd be sick? Getting rid of Calderon and Jack, and having Collison and Banks at pg next year.

I can't wait to see what happens. I hope all the pessimistic Raptor fans that think we're gonna end up with 25 wins next year get owned. GETER Done BC

NO

Okafor = 4 years left for $52 million

Peja = 1 year $15 million

Peja is off the books next summer. If there is a new CBA, the Raps are NOT fucked if they take Peja. With Okafor, though, the Raps would be left paying > $40 million over 3 years to a Center on the decline. Awesome. Just fucking awesome. It WOULD fuck the Raps further. If BC takes Okafor, I'll be extremely pissed, unless it involves ditching Hedo. But I doubt the Hornets would ever take Hedo, since that defeats the purpose of ditching salary. No Okafor unless hedo goes to the Hornets or it facillitates a 3 team deal that gets Hedo out or town.

With that out of the way, I'd like to point out that trading with the Hornets could be a way for the Raps to turn a Bosh to Miami deal into something better than shit. It could look like this:

Miami gets Bosh

Toronto gets Beasley, 18th pick, Chamers, and Traded player exception (TPE).

Then, after trading with Miami, BC could do the following:

Hornets get:

Traded Player exception
Banks [(or Evans) expiring]
18th pick (or Chalmers)

Raps get:

Collison
Peja [expiring]

The traded player exception helps the Hornets save serious money next year by getting them out of the luxury tax. The Raps could absorb Peja without having to send much salary back.

So, from the scraps Miami gives the Raps for Bosh, Toronto could actually net Beasley AND Collison, and maybe have pick or Chalmers left over as well, depending on how much Miami sends and what the Hornets want.

This is a boon, Collison is exactly the type of point guard this team needs. I'd take Peja for a year no question if it meant securing Collison as the Raps' point guard of the future. Peja's not what he was but he can still contribute, it could be much worse. Even if Peja ended up on the bench all year the $15 million expiring is a huge asset.

This is the first potential trade of the offseason that I am legitimately hoping will happen. Hopefully BC does everything he can to make this happen.

why would NOLA want to trade Peja if he's expiring next summer?
if they trade the want to take back less salary to get under the tax immediatly, or get unguaranteed contracts

I was reading more about traded player exceptions and it looks like there could be some snags with my hypothetical trade. TPE's cannot be combined with other exceptions, such as the exception related to salaries being within 125% of each other when trading over the cap. If the Raps use the TPE to facillitate a trade with the Hornets, the TPE can only be used to compensate for one player and has to be within $100,000 of the other player. A bigger deal involving more players could be allowed, so long as the individual parts can be broken up into something legal. It could get tricky, but it's possible. BC would just have to jump through a few hoops, similar to how he did when pulling off the 4 team deal for Hedo. If the Hornets really want to shed salary, Toronto is still a good trading partner if BC has a TPE.

Miami...................BEASLEY NO NO NO!!!!!!
If Bosh goes there which I seriously doubt........Miami's 1st 2010.,2011,Toronto's 1st back, Toronto's 2nd 2010 and Miami's other 2...... 2nds in 2010.
We will get good picks in 2011 with Miami's pick since they will suck next year.

Collison would be nice but only packaged with Peta and thet must take either Jose or Hedo.

I don't know why everyone doesn't like Beasley? Just because he had abaggy of weed?

He's putting up better numbers than AB in his third seaon & he is almost on par with Bosh.

I know at this moment Beasley isn't close to Bosh, he will get better.

He's been caught a few times with pot and his mental health was questioned last summer if you don't remember (he hinted at suicide). That plus he simply isn't consistent with his effort at all and is dumb.

No thanks!

Yeah Weed means little to me as well. You think Bosh, Jack don't blaze? Let's face it, i would guess 70% + of the league smokes weed. Who cares.

But this concerns me:

Quote:
More troubling are these excerpts from his now defunct Twitter account:

Before Beasley's Twitter account was closed and erased, these three posts were offered:

– "Y do I feel like the whole world is against me!!!!!!! Back on my FTW!!!!! I can't win for losin!!!!!!!!!!"

– "Feelin like it's not worth livin!!!!!!! I'm done"

– "not feelin this at all!!!!!"
I don't think this guy's head is on straight, and especially if he didn't want to be in Toronto, his effort would be in question imo. The guy is a headcase and the prime example of that imo is the team that picked him 2nd overall 3yrs ago is giving up on him and his measily contract because they need "another player or two" to play with Wade.
