Clippers trying to land Randolph?

The Clippers have talked to the Knicks about aquiring Zach Randolph to make up for the loss of Elton Brand to free agency.

Yeah but apparently the Knicks rejected their offer.

Word is the deal's still alive though, apparantley the Knicks have stated they want Gordon, but that probably won't happen because it'd be the dumbest trade in the history of sports if the Clips did it... but this is the Clippers. Apparantley the original offer was Zach for a 2nd rounder... in which case the Knicks would still win. I would've taken that deal in a heartbeat actually if I was NY.

If the Clippers in any way use their capspace to acquire Randolph... they'll be the worst franchise in the history of sports. Oh wait, they already are.

The 2nd rounder offer is pretty confirmed now

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_ar..._for_randolph/

I don't know what the Knicks are doing turning this down. My guess is it'll end up being something like two second rounders that gets the deal done, lol.

Clippers = horrible. Just horrible.

Who do you think Raptors are projecting for in the 09-10 draft class? Obviously LeBron but other than him and re-signing Bosh who else would you think will our team be after?
Also, Randolph=phail.

We're actually gonna have more capspace than anyone that year. Bosh, JO, Bargnani, Kapono, and Hump are all coming off, totalling 50 mil of expiring contract. We're probably gonna have to throw 20 mil at Bosh to keep him, but after that, we're still set.

Lebron won't come to Canada, and Wade's injuries scare me, so after that the guy I'd like to look at is Joe Johnson. We could realistically book him for 16 mil/year and still have a boatload of space. If we signed Johnson and Tyson Chandler (might be hard to pry away from the Hornets though), we'd win the championship. Hell, I'd take Johnson and a Kendrick Perkins-like defensive presence, or Miller and Chandler.

If I were Donnie Walsh, I'd trade Randolph for that 2nd rounder in a HEARTBEAT.
For the Clippers, if Randolph keeps his shit together, they'd get solid value for what they gave up and they'd have a decent starting 5. Why not?

Apparently this trade is off the table now, but I agree with you 100%.

Donnie Walsh should give away Randolph to whoever will take him.

It would give them cap space, and provide a clear cut message that he is cleaning Isiahs shit out of the outhouse.

At the same time, as is being discussed, anyone compromising their cap room in 2010 to get Zach Randolph now is very, very foolish unless they expect to contend in the next two seasons.
