Clippers Believed To Be Paul's New Preferred Team

Think CP3 wants out bad.....

If Chris Paul cannot go to either the Knicks or Lakers, his preference is to end up with the Cilppers, according to sources.

If Paul is willing to pick up his 12-13 option at the time of a trade, delaying his free agency by one year, the Clippers are prepared to give up either Eric Gordon or Minnesota's unprotected No. 1 pick for 2012.

This would delay Paul's free agency by one season.

Sources are confident that they can keep Paul on a long-term deal, especially if they can sign Blake Griffin next summer.

He would fit very well with that squad. It would also keep Griffin from leaving next summer.

The alley-oops and fast breaks would be frighteningly good....

do the clippers play in to this year?

js12 12-11-2011 09:42 PM

CP3 on the Clippers can be a contending roster. They already have solid pieces in Griffin, Jordan and Eric Gordon.

JDMtors 12-11-2011 09:44 PM

Gordon + T1olves 1st might be enough for CP3? I dont think 1 or the other would be. Fillers could be added into the mix too

Blaze 12-11-2011 09:44 PM

This and Dwight going to the Nets would be ideal in my opinion, it would keep things competitive and would be really exciting.

Let's play a little game of Be-The-GM shall we? :)

Chris Paul

for

Aminu
Bledsoe
Kaman (or Williams if they prefer)
T-Wolves pick

That's a fair haul for New Orleans. That Minny pick could potentially land them a new franchise guy. CP3 would have to agree to an extension first.

Paul
Gordon
Butler
Griffin
Jordan

That is one athletic lineup. :reporter:

The LAL, HOU offer puts the Hornets in a better position now, that deal would put the Hornets in a better position for the future. Aminu and Bledsoe are nice young prospects and Kaman's 12 mill. contract comes off the books after this year.

Plus acquiring the T-Wolves pick, which could potentially land them Andre Drummond or Anthony Davis, is reason enough to say that deal is better. :p

Last I had read is that NOH wanted both Gordon and Bledsoe and I'm ok with that TBH. Works in the trade checker....

To Clippers
CP3

To NOH
Kaman
Gordon
Bledsoe
unprotected pick
any other future pick if needed to get the deal done

Gives the Clippers a line of
CP3, Foye, Butler, Griffen, Jordan

I quite like that line-up - won't miss the scoring of Gordon as much when you have Butler now and Foye healthy with CP3 running the show.

NOH has some nice pieces to work with now, Kaman expiring to trade (or keep as I like Kaman's play when healthy) and some potentially good picks for 2012.

It really would be awesome to see the Clips turn into a quality team.

I hope it happens.

If it's a Clippers trade, I'd wait for midseason. There will still be a trade deadline in February-March, right?
Then you see how all the Clippers are developing, and you also see if that Wolves pick is likely top 3, or it's more like 8-10. That pick could not exist at all btw --- if it's no.11 or lower, it goes to the Celtics.

That way you don't risk as much.
Also, I'd be very interested to see how DeAndre progresses. If he's doing well, then ask for him too, in exchange for Emeka Okafor. Long term money - similar, short term - savings for Hornets. And they get younger.
You can't trade for him now, but midseason - sure; unless the rules have changed?
Also, ask for Clips own pick. If you delay the trade till midseason, it may be a pretty decent pick.

>'12 Wolves pick (if top 10 or higher, otherwise future Clippers pick)
>'12 Clippers pick (if top 10 or higher, otherwise future)
>DeAndre
>Aminu
>Bledsoe
>Kaman's expiring

for

>CP3
>Emeka's contract
>Ariza's contract

Hornets get young, get great picks, save ~20 mil. You can even make this in a way where Hornets get a trade exception too, at ~ 7 mil.
Clippers get a Griffin-CP3-Gordon core with great veteran role players.

Emeka
Blake
Ariza
Gordon
CP3
Keep Mo Williams as a 6th man, or trade him for a better SF. That's an awesome team.

Kevin Martin, Lamar Odom, Luis Scola could have all most definitely have been flipped for better prospects/picks. They also get.. Dragic lol.

That offer is essentially Aminu, Bledsoe, an expiring, and a pick.

Recently signed Butler will play the 3 and for some reason, I don't like Emeka in there...slow and plodding. I don't think Gordon will be as effective with CP3 running the show, both need the rock to be effective.

TORaptor4Ever 12-11-2011 10:37 PM

Word is that the Hornets are pretty high on Gordon and want him included in a trade for CP3.

Can't blame them really.

Why not? Have to give something to get something...both teams come out ahead, though I like what the Clips will have as their starting 5.

Dark Knight 12-11-2011 10:44 PM

If I'm the Clippers I only trade Gordon if Paul agrees to an extension. You don't give up a talent like Gordon for a rental.

Part of the deal is having Paul picking up his option. I like the idea. Gives the Clips 2 years with Paul and all those teams saving for 2012 will have passed. Good move on the Clip's management part. Besides, CP3 or D12 won't sign an extension now, they would lose way too much money - they have to wait to become a FA. It's a good gamble on the Clips' part IMO.

just when we thought LAC fucked up their offseason with the coran butler signing
