Clippers aquire Butler

No, not Caron Butler. ;)

The Hornets have traded Rasual Butler to the Clippers in exchange for a future second-round pick, according to sources.

The trade is expected to be officially announced on Wednesday afternoon.

Butler will earn $3.9 million in 2009-10, and the move will allow New Orleans to save close to $8 million when luxury tax implications are taken into account.

Rasual Butler isn't anything special but for a second rounder? Nice move by LA.

I thought it was Caron for a second, and I thought career suicide.

Apollo 08-12-2009 02:47 PM

Ahahah I don't know man, Kaman, Griffin, Caron Butler, Gordon and Davis would be a killer lineup.

SoGood 08-12-2009 03:15 PM

looks like mopete might get some burn in the BigEasy this year

Butler really came back last year and got in good shape and had a very nice year with 11ppg on 43% and 39%3pt. Hes a solid role guy off the bench for sure and a very good shooter when hes in shape.

raptorsfan345 08-12-2009 03:54 PM

Nice move clippers. Butler really improved his game over the course of last season.:yeah:

A second round pick!?!?! Come on. BC, this could have been your last move of the off-season.

Jose/Jack/Roko/Banks
DD/Wright/Douby
Hedo/Butler
Bosh/Evans
Bargs/Rasho/POB

I really don't understand this trade from the hornets perspective. Butler is coming off the best year of his career and it's not like the hornets are stacked at his position. I'm guessing thy are doing it to save money. another bad move for the hornets organization. great pickup 4 the Clips tho!

And for a second rounder! :haha:

The Clips second rounders must be pretty valuable. They got Camby for just a second rounder, too.

Well they must be pretty high second rounders considering they tank like there's no tomorrow.

The Clippers are getting much better and deeper. They should sign Iverson. I would be surprised if they don't snag the 8th seed in the West. Hornets GM just can't grasp that he has to build around Chris Paul and is messing up the Hornets.

DuCa00795 08-13-2009 12:58 PM

Iverson would be a nice addition, if he would be willing to come off the bench, something he is highly against.

Cheers

Cause NO is in the same situation and memphis, no money whatsoever.
so he's trying to save up cash while trying to build around Paul, which is really hard. He has Okafur from Chandler, who is a bit cheaper but injury prone which I thought was a good trade, plus rookie contracts save money.

Hornets save about 8 mil in this deal. Taking into account both basketball and finances, it's a solid move for both teams. 85% of teams in the league right now would give up Butler for 8 mil in savings, most aren't over the lux tax though
