Default CLee now a UFA, QO revoked

Quote:
The Rockets withdrew their qualifying offer to swingman Courtney Lee, making him an unrestricted free agent.
The Rockets withdrew their offer because had he accepted, because according to beat writer Jonathan Feigen it would have taken them out of the running for Jeremy Lin, Omer Asik, and long-shot Eric Gordon. Goran Dragic isn't getting any cheaper, either. Various sources are reporting that Lee is getting interest from the Bulls, Pacers, Clippers, Mavs, Suns, Wizards, Grizzlies, and Hawks, as he has become a hot name in a short amount of time -- the antithesis to inefficient, one-dimensional free agents like Jamal Crawford and Nick Young.
One more SG on the market

There's another player i would have loved to get.

Calderon for Lee (S&T)

Davis, 2013 1st for Lowry

Derozan, James Johnson, 2nd for a SF

If we signed him to 3 years 19 million I'd be praising BC. But instead we signed Landry fucking Fields. I'm going to go throw up.

Giving average players longterm deals for 5+ mil either gets you on the treadmill or consistently in the lottery. Look at TOR and MIL.

You couldnt look me straight in the eye and tell me Fields is worth more than 3 million after the way he played this year.

Fields is a natural SF. He's not quick enough to guard SGs as shown this season especially. That and you may as well just called him a guard, because he doesnt deserve the 'shooting' label. Call him Mr. 25%

Or BC saw the PHX NYK trade rumor and squashed it the only way he knew how: offering another average player a longterm deal.

He can dream can't he? BC probably has a gut feeling that Fields will become everything he thought Kapono would be. Or the best of what both Kapono and Turkoglu could offer had things worked out. Third time lucky right?

Lmao ok, that's funny about the 25%. Regardless we disagree about Fields. Apparently NBA coaches feel different since all he's played is guard but hey. As for defense, he's lauded for his defense and I'm going to give him a 25% pass last year as he had some of the worst defensive players on his team - no team defense and one tends to look terrible individually

Yet another SG who's better than DD. Also, regarding Fields' contract - it's only 3 years. With BC I'm surprised we're not seeing Fields make 6 million/year over 5 years.

I like the contract, small for 2 years then if it's not working a big expiring contract to trade.

How could Fields play well with Melo and JR Smith? You have the ball only if you rebound it...or you might get occasional 3 pt shot at expiring 24...

Thrills. I'm getting tired of this.

Please explain to me why we should write off a player who's been in the league for TWO years while playing very well in his rookie season.

So he had a bit of a sophmore slump after Melo killed the Knicks' chemistry.

BIG FREAKING DEAL.

The guy isn't Michael Curry or Rasual Butler for God's sake.... he's young and he can play the game. Give him a freaking chance before you crucify the guy. And worst comes to worst... it's only 3 years. Possibly even less since he'll become a solid trade chip in his last year.

Honestly... WTF man?

How do you know he's not Michael Curry or Rasual Butler? Curry and Butler both played over 10 years in the league. Butler has averaged 10+ 3 times in his career.

What's this "give him a chance" nonsense. Thrill has watched Knick games - he's allowed to dislike this horrible signing.

Nah. Thrills is just knee-jerking. I know that both you AND him know ball better than to dislike this kid. He plays the game the right way.

And again... $6.6M for years (avg.) is far from terrible.

Lol fields would have got 5. Mill per so we over paid by 4 million. Lol Raptors aren't going to spend to the cap so don't worry about its not your money. He has gam plus that contact becomes an asset in its 3rd year as a expiring contract
