Knicks Chris Paul requests a trade to the Knicks

The more things change......

I'm guessing a third team will certainly have to get involved. Ridiculous!!!

Quote:
Chris Paul’s(notes) agent informed New Orleans officials on Wednesday that his client will not sign a contract extension and wants to be traded to the New York Knicks, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

As soon as the NBA lifts its lockout restrictions, Hornets general manager Dell Demps wants to meet with Paul and hear that directive from him.

Nevertheless, the prospects of the Hornets executing a trade with the Knicks appear to be relatively dim. The Knicks simply don’t have the trade assets that come close to meeting New Orleans’ criteria for a deal. Demps has been listening to overtures from teams around the league, and has been actively working under the assumption that Paul would reject a contract extension.

The Hornets have no intention of letting Paul walk away at season’s end without trying to get maximum value for him. There are several teams, including the Boston Celtics, that could be willing to make a deal for Paul with the hope of convincing him to eventually sign an extension.

just can not seeing it being made to work! But it's a difficult situation coz he so clearly has a team he wants to sign for.

if NYK somehow get it done they will have 3 players and NOTHING!!

is the plan to try and acquire another decent player by giving away picks, to add to some combination of billups/fields/douglas?

Yeah, I don't see a deal being consummated with the Knicks. They have nothing to offer.

Paul is likely going to have to settle for being dealt to a different team, but there aren't too many teams that will have the assets NO is looking for AND be a contending team that Paul so desperately wants to be a part of.

They'd need to send pretty much everything they have the other way (assuming they want to build a big three).

Is Andy Rautins, Landry Fields, Bill Walker, Toney Douglas, Renaldo Balkman and Chauncey Billups enough? That leaves a total of three players on the Knicks roster, including Paul.

That's too much salary already, and not nearly enough talent to get the Hornets to bite. They'd be better off letting him walk.

Plus, who wants to rent Paul for a year, so he can go sign with the Knicks next summer?

A third party would have to get involved.

NYK- CP3

NO- Stuckey, Fields, Mozgov, picks

Detroit- Ariza

No clue if that works but something like that. It's pretty shit imo from NO POV but something like this can get done.

If NYK get to keep Billups big contract he can be moved for a Center.

Paul/Douglas
Mason/Walker/Rautins
Melo/Williams
Amare/Balkman
?/Turiaf

Yeah, i know. Makes no sense really. But i was trying to see what NYK would have to give to Detroit and there wasn't anything there, unless Billups goes back to Detroit which i doubt would be good. lol

I'm more or less just saying that i could see Detroit getting involved and trying to unload CV, Rip, Gordon???

i really hate these kinds of trade requests, especially where a particular team is named. bye-bye to any negotiating leverage new orleans had.

Well, this is the problem with the supertax not being implemented for the first two years of the deal which is why i said a week ago that that part of the deal was complete horseshit!

They won't make out that bad. Hell if they get Fields and say Mozgov, Billups they make out a million times better then we did. Fields alone likely guarantees that. lol

yeah, can see NOH bargaining hard for a while! need to get what they can. Why did u go for detroit in particular? what exactly will they give in the trade?

yep, any of those 3 could be involved and NOH hope they will improve in a new setting.

I said them because they're the first team that came to mind that have players they want to unload.

NO is owned by the NBA, currently have 6 players under contract and their franchise player wants a trade. WOW!!!!

Seattle Hornets??

I don't think the Knicks have any draft picks to trade until 2016 or beyond because they owe protected draft picks to the Houston Rockets and Denver Nuggets. Their ability to land a player like Paul, as such, is severely limited.

in this case its just making things clear. no team would trade for paul to have him for one year. he's saying which team(s) he will resign with, so new orleans know where to focus their efforts.
