Celtics "Shutting Down" Kevin Garnett Till Playoffs

Probably a smart idea by Doc.

Rivers said Garnett would probably play the last few games of the season to prepare for the playoffs.

“After watching him move today, we’re just going to shut him down,” Rivers said. “It probably won’t be for the year. He’ll probably play by the end, last couple of games, or last three games. It’s just not progressing the way we anticipated it would progress.”

Makes sense. Maybe the C's are starting to show their age/treads. They should do the same thing with Ray Allen. They might as well coast to the 3rd spot in the East.

They shouldn't have brought him back this early, in my opinion. At his age and with the type of play that he brings, you've got to make sure he's 110% healthy before putting him on the court again. I'm sure KG hates missing games, but he needs to get that knee better.

I think it's bs, they know they have a good chance in the 3rd seed so theres a good excuse, the big ticket is out. How am I not suprised? They are scared of that run and gun style play which the 76ers do and atlanta also did last series and gave them the scare. If not the 76ers then you can't forget about d-wade and the heat getting that 6th spot so the celtics are aware that there season might end in the first round. Again how am I not suprised that KG is injuried.

I dont think the celtics will lose in the first round. But if they only get the third seed.. they're going to have to beat orlando w/ home court and then cleveland w/ home court? ... That's not going to be easy.

LOL there goes the hope of getting uot of the first round. The celts are old and they are spending too much money to be able to make some moves. It's sorta sad but I am happy at the same time

Out of the first round? They can still win everything. They wont beat the cavs without KG though.

Hopefully they can still get the 2nd spot or its going to be a much tougher road to the finals.

I guess theyre hoping DET gets the 7th spot too, so BOS will have the homecourt in the 2nd round facing the Pistons who will inevitably beat the Magic in the 1st rd.

Maybe Doc is playing the seeding in his favor so they dont have to face the Pistons in the 1st rd, heh,

its a good decision.
KG is their Ace, without him they wont do a thing.
when playoffs roll around they will need Garnett at 100%, anything less and they can kiss their repeat chances gooood-bye.

unlike last year - they arent head and shoulders above the rest - they see how powerful Orlando and Cleveland are, and wont be able to just walk to the finals and own the eastern conference... its gonna be a tough post season for them, and they know it.

They shouldn't completely shut him down. They should play him a maximum of 15-20 mins a game to keep him warm.

What the....

The Celtics are proudful vets. They're still the champs. If I were you, I wouldn't count them out of anything.
