Default Celtics close to getting everyones favorite...

PJ 'bad mothafucka' Brown

Quote:
The Celtics appear to be close to adding free agent forward P.J. Brown to their roster.

Brown's agent, Mark Bartelstein, acknowledged it is "possible" that Brown could be a Celtic soon.

The 38-year-old Brown, who has been courted to return to his home state team, the New Orleans Hornets, has been inactive this season.

The Celtics have two roster spots to fill before Friday's playoff eligible deadline. The Celtics hope to land veteran guard Sam Cassell if he is bought out by the Clippers.

Brown, who has 14 years of experience, would bring needed depth in the frontline. The 6-foot-11 forward is known for his rebounding and tough interior defense. He averages 9.2 points and 7.8 rebounds per game for his career. He also would brings much-needed playoff experience, with 81 games under his belt with the four franchises he has played for, most recently as a member of the Chicago Bulls.
He was solid as a rock last year, I guess he wanted to spend more time with his family but finally got the itch. This would be huge for Boston to get a big guy like this that knows how to play and is fantastic on D and boxing out. They really needed a near 7 foot guy that knows how to play since the start of the year to backup Perkins even though Powe and Baby have played well(but come playoff time should only be used for certain matchups)

Damn.. with people being bought out and then becomming FA's and signing with powerhouses, it's looking like this could very well be a Boston-Phoenix showdown in June (which would be tasty)

This is why I like a hard cap.

No one cares how New York spends their $$$ cuz they screw it up and still suck. But Boston has unlimited funds and is using them to buy a Championship....just like the Yankees and the Red Sox.

Soon the league will suck like baseball with only a handful of teams having a chance from the starting blocks.

Every team has the same cap number unless they want to pay the luxury tax correct? The great teams should be making moves to try and become better as the season goes on, thats how it SHOULD work. Theres no league where more than a handful of teams have a chance to win from the starting blocks if you look in deep at any of the 3(4 if you count hockey) major sports. This year the NBA has 5 or 6, thats probably tops in pro sports the past few years. The parody in the NBA this year has been amazing.

i would say the nfl is the best at parody imo. Would you have called the Giants this year? Or Steelers a couple years ago? I think nba is OK at this, but could take a few lessons from nfl on cap rules.

Problem is getting the players union to make non guaranteed contracts the in thing, I dunno how the NFL got both sides to agree to that.

And the NFL hasnt been much parody the past 3-4 yrs. Its been NE most years and IND being up there. I dont really remember who won the year NE missed the playoffs but there hasnt really been more than 2-3 teams that could win it all the past 3 yrs or so from what I remember. NYG just came out of nowhere, I still dont think they were the best overall team but they won on the right day, but thats the difference in the 2 sports. I'll take 7 game series over 1 game showdown everytime especially if the 7 game series comes down to game 7.

Isn't Cassel still under contract with the Clippers? or did you mean G. Payton?

If they add The Glove, they might as well go all the way and get S. Pippen as well.

actually the pats are like SA, never back 2 back champs and the same amount of titles overall, so hard to say its less parody. Steelers were very much like the Giants, a wildcard team that won it all. I do like longer series aswell but obviously you cant do it in football, i mean even a best of 3 would take 3 weeks lol that would be nuts.

The NFL got those non guaranteed contracts cuz the players went on strike, the NFL put in scrubs for a few weeks and the players caved in when some guys crossed the line to play cuz they needed the $. They definately have their players on lockdown in a crazy way. But i think NBA would do well to implement a few things, i mean remember us paying Hakeem for a couple years when he either didnt play or was basically retired, that is bullshit to me, he basically came here with no real intention of playing a full year, just cashing a check, that shit shouldnt be allowed. In the NFL he would get cut and get 0.

Pats are nothing like SA. Didnt the Pats win like 3/4 and back to back? SA's won 4 in 9 years, I dont consider that a dynasty.

And non guaranteed contracts have their quirks too. So many guys moving around year after year and teams cutting great players because they had one injury. Theres probably more that I'm not thinking of but theres still a downside to it.
