Cavs trying to aquire Vince Carter?

Quote:

The Cavs are pursuing a trade of Ben Wallace and Sasha Pavlovic for Vince Carter.

The Bulls have approached the Nets about swapping their 11th pick for Chicago's two picks at 16 and 26. The Bulls would like to select James Johnson.

The Nets are considering Terrence Williams with the 11th pick but could trade down if they believe that Tyler Hansbrough will be available at 16.
And i think that getting 16th/26th picks for their 11th would be a good deal for the Nets.

...No to Carter trade.
Terrible trade for Nets

2010 cap space. In fact both Pavlovich/Wallace are going into the final years of their contracts. Which means an extra 20Mil under the cap next summer. Very smart trade imo.

Kirby 06-19-2009 10:42 PM

Isn't Wallace scheduled for a longer contract?
If it's 2010 then I've mistaken it's a great trade for both teams.
I thought Wallace had like 4 years or something

No he's got one year left and he apparently might retire.

Ball Don't Lie 06-20-2009 12:56 AM

He should retire hes done .

If the Cavs pull this off then theyre the sure fire #1 seed going into next year. Carters game would fit perfectly with Lebron, and then you could bring a Delonte West off the bench at either guard spot? Shiiiiiet.

Someguy again 06-20-2009 12:34 PM

I thought they needed a big man more than another jumpshooter.

Someguy again 06-20-2009 12:57 PM

Honestly, their pretty much stacked on the guard position like how Toronto is with the bigs. IMO
If I was Cleveland I would try to go to someone like Stoudemire, Jefferson or be desperate and get Zach Randolph.

The MVP of West Hollywood 06-20-2009 12:57 PM

I don't think NJ is that desperate to dump contract. I think they only consider this if it's somehow locked Ben Wallace is retiring and his 14 mil contract comes off the books immediately

jeaxz 06-20-2009 09:59 PM

they need a good inside post game kinda guy. carter will just be a js and cry and get injured. Lebron wont put up with his shit.

Febreezy 06-20-2009 10:19 PM

Cleveland needs a big to help out lebron

They need a guy who can hit shots. so that lebron can't be triple teamed in the playoffs.

vince + lebron... = champs 2010. I'm already calling it :)

Ball Don't Lie 06-21-2009 01:42 AM

They need a guy who can handle the ball and make CLEs offence actually flow vs good to great defensive teams. CLEs offence goes straight to Lebron instead of spreading the wealth vs the top echelon teams and thats their biggest problem. They go outside their offensive gameplan becuase theyre worried the rest of the team wont cut it without even giving it a chance like against the other 25 teams in the NBA. I guess that coaching for you.

You get VC, you get another 20 ppg scorer. As long as you re sign Varajao and maybe make one more signing to stay BIG inside then youre good.

The MVP of West Hollywood 06-21-2009 03:21 AM

Still not convinced Cle needs that much of an upgrade... they won 66 games last year and were epic for the first couple rounds. Mo, Delonte, etc. just choked from a lack of experience in that big a series, and Orl was just a horrible matchup for them.

Since I don't think VC will be had for expirings, the deal I'd make is either for Jamison or a Tyson Chandler/James Posey for Wallace and Pavlocic type deal. That'd get NO under the tax THIS YEAR with Pavlocic's unguaranteed contract, along with save them 20 mil+ next year, so I think they'd be down. Chandler is what they need most to matchup with Orl IMO - A young athletic big who can handle Howard. Big Z is too old

Cory 06-21-2009 07:34 AM

Cavs need youth, and Carter is not it. He may help them win one championship, but the logic needs to be "dynasty". Carter will not make Cavs a dynasty. He might help get them one championship, but then his career will be done before you know it.

Cavs need a big man to develop like a Bynum, or some other young up and comer of that sort.

Ball Don't Lie 06-21-2009 08:37 AM

Mo and Delonte choking is the biggest misconception and bs that people seem to bring up from that series. They went from being primary ballhandlers off drive and dish plays to being two Wally Szcerbiaks(spot up shooter, nothing else). It was not until like game 5 they started going to Delonte more often and he was producing but Mo wasnt gettign the same type of plays run for him that he was up until that point. If youve played any kind of basketball you know how frustrating it is to play with a ball dominator and ballstopper and just stand there giving them space. Theres no rhythm to your game after a couple of possessions and theres no way to stop the douche from handling the ball still. Lebron had the ball in his hands way too much when they should have been running the same motion type plays that were very successful and lead to open 3s and midrange shots like in the previous 88 games before that series.

B-RAD 06-21-2009 11:34 AM

you mean 90 games before that series

I dont think the starters played the last two games of the regular season?

B-RAD 06-21-2009 11:53 AM

oh yeah, forgot that's why they went 39-2 and not 40-1.

did anybody read this yet...

NBA.com: Cavs' new part owners interested in signing Yao

zachus 06-21-2009 11:57 AM

Signing Yao would be the best possible scenario for the Cavs, he's the perfect guy to team up with Lebron. You've essentially got two guys that can command triple teams and since that's not exactly possible, Yao will be able to eat up the single coverage he'll get in the post. Not to mention Yao can step out and be there for the mid-range jump shot when Lebron penetrates. Yao and Bron would be scary.
