Cavs Cavs may fire Coach of the Year

Quote:
Could this season's NBA Coach of the Year be looking for a job before the start of next season? It sounds ridiculous but it just might be the case for Cleveland's Mike Brown, according to several sources close to the situation. The Cavaliers' front office has reportedly been in disarray since the team was bounced by Orlando in the Eastern Conference finals -- despite finishing with a league-best record of 66-16 and possessing NBA MVP LeBron James. Some key members of the organization feel Brown was badly out-coached by Orlando's Stan Van Gundy, according to sources. One source said Cavs management wasn't only disappointed in the losses, "but equally disappointed in the (two) wins" in a series that went six games

Not unheard of...

The Pistons dumped Carlisle after a great season and a Conference Finals appearance.

He'll probably just end up being inked to a three-year extension similar to another coach in a familiar situation...

Is this Sam Mitchell you speak of?

Yeah, completely similar situations.

Yep the best GM's are simply powerless in such a situation.

Sounds a lot like Lebron James at it again.

The ONLY way they even hint at letting that guy go is if James bitched about him. No other way. They are desperate to keep James happy, if he liked the coach, there wouldn't be a sniff of displeasure voiced.

The Cavs simply peaked too early. And Brown definitely looked a little lost when the going got tough. I'd say some sort of decision needs to be made whether Lebron factors into it or not. But I have no idea who they would go with. More than anything they need to turn Ben Wallace and his contract into something else entirely.

I was listening to the game plan with Jack and that hockey guy on the FAN and jack had a really interesting thing to say about the situation in cleveland. Basically, he was informed by one of their "basketballer insiders" that Lebron has so much power in the Cleveland organization that it's just flat out troubling. This was a week or so ago, so my memory is a little blurred, but generally Lebron has input on pretty much everything and generally everyone bends over backwards for him. The coach, GM, and even owner. Lebron says and they do. I can understand wanting to keep the best talent in basketball happy, but you can't deny that it's a pretty fucked up situation down there in Cleveland town.

With a player like Lebron who can single-handily take a team to the playoffs himself, of course there gonna do anything to make him stay.
