Default Cavs looking to deal #1 for scoring F?

"The Cavs are looking for a scoring forward in any deal for the No. 1 pick in June's draft, according to SI.com's Chris Mannix."

"That's not much of a surprise considering the Cavs didn't get any offense from their small forward this season. Also, big men Tristan Thompson and Tyler Zeller each have fairly limited offensive games at this point in their career. SheridanHoops.com reported the Cavs would trade the top pick in exchange for Kevin Love, but we're skeptical for a couple reasons. For one, multiple reports have Love off the market since David Kahn was fired as general manager. Flip Saunders has been cosying up to Love in hopes of convincing him to sign a contract extension with Minnesota. Also, it's unclear what interest Saunders would have in the No. 1 pick in what's widely considered a very weak draft without any sure-thing franchise players." May 29 - 3:34 PM

As per rotoworld.

Thoughts?

The only team that comes to my mind is Indiana, maybe trying to rid itself of Granger and his contract and taking on the pick. The pressure would be to take Zeller, who would be a good pick for them to replace West in the future but I dunno ...

But please...let them take Gay off our hands.

He'd be a great compliment to Kyrie!

Maybe they should call Portland and ask for Batum?
Portland could surely use a shotblocker (Nerlens Noel), not to mention that they are lacking a center with knee issues at the moment which is uncharacteristic of Portland. But I guess Noel might be too raw / far away for Portland's taste.

How about
Portland gets Gortat, Jared Dudley
Cleveland gets Batum
Phoenix gets Noel
This would have to happen in July to make salaries work.

I don't think that Noel is a great fit next to Jonas but I guess I'd still do it.
Adding legit talent and building something potentially great > being the Bobcats from a few years ago when they had a solid but flawed roster of Crash, S-Jax, Felton, Tyson Chandler and battled for the low seeds.

I honestly think Anthony Bennett would be a great fit next to JV.

Definitely agreed.

If some miracle happened and our GM pulled it off, I would absolutely look to trade down.

Bennett, Oladipo, Porter...all solid

Agreed. I am weary of the idea of tanking for Wiggins, but it does seem really enticing when you think about it.

My Plan:

Rudy Gay for Cav`s 1st Overall Pick + Filler

Lowry for Dallas`s 13th Pick + Marion

Bargnani + 2014 2nd Rounder for Humphries + Nets 22nd Pick

Draft Anthony Bennett (1st), Dennis Shroeder (13th), Gianni or Kabongo (22nd)

If all goes as planned in 2014 Tank season,

Shroeder, Kabongo
Demar, Ross
Wiggins
Amir, Bennett
JV

Another possibility would be to flip the 1st pick + something else for Demarcus Cousins...

The Cavs don't have pieces to match salaries. Other than including Varejao into the deal. But Gay for #1 is already a big enough pipedream. In other words, we are talking about a July trade here where it's Gay for whoever they draft.
