Cavaliers suspend Bynum for conduct detrimental to the team. Looking to deal him!!

Quote:

CLEVELAND -- The Andrew Bynum experiment appears over for the Cavaliers.

The team suspended the enigmatic centre indefinitely on Saturday for "conduct detrimental to the team" and banned him from all team-related activities. Bynum, who signed a two-year, $24 million contract with the Cavs in July, did not travel with the team to Boston for Saturday's game and it's likely that he has played his final game for Cleveland.

The Cavs will try to trade Bynum.

Bynum's suspension isn't a major shock considering he has not performed at a consistent level and has appeared uninterested while on the floor. Earlier this season, the 7-footer, who did not play a single second last season for Philadelphia because of knee injuries, talked openly about retirement and said his medical issues have been a challenge to overcome.

"It's a terrible situation internally with our team," All-Star guard Kyrie Irving said before the Cavs faced the Celtics. "It's something we have to get over."

Cavs coach Mike Brown has been a huge supporter of Bynum. The two were together in Los Angeles and their relationship was one of the reasons the Cavs risked signing Bynum.

Brown was asked if Bynum's days with the Cavs were over.

"He's on an indefinite suspension and I'm not trying to be funny, but you know what indefinite means," Brown said. "We've got 14 guys in that locker room who are very focused and determined and ready to take on any challenge that's in front of them. They're great guys, they're focused guys and they know how to play the game the right way and that's what I'm focused on, just helping those guys win."

So many teams need a center, and so many teams still don't want Bynum. What does that tell you?

About Bynum suspension, league source tells Yahoo: "He doesn't want to play basketball anymore. He never liked it that much in first place."

It's very possible Bynum's played his final game for Cavs, sources tell Yahoo. In trade, a team can waive Bynum and save $6m of $12m salary.

I really doubt anyone will trade for him after what's happened with him in PHI and CLE.

He'd be a great fit with the Clippers though once he's cleared waivers. He's exactly what they need off the bench, and if any situation could help turn things around, itd be in a city where he's comfortable(and played most of his career in), and a coach who wont take shit from him. It's a good gamble for LAC, they sign him to a cheap 1 year deal, and if he continues on the path hes on right now, they can cut him, but if he actually comes to play, LAC would have a serious shot at the title, something they cant claim currently

LOG 12-28-2013 02:32 PM

Fucking Bynum I have him on my fantasy team.. Such a waste of talent

Brooklyn and Miami could use him

Lowry, Derozan, Hansborough

for

Bynum, Jack, Waiters, 2014 1st

Jack/Vasquez/Stone

Salmons/Novak/Daye

If we do that Cavs become much better and that pick ends up being in the 20s
That's not enough for Lowry and DD imo

That sounds like a perfect opportunity for Houston and Morey. Asik for Bynum+pick, salaries work. Just need a 3rd team that takes the pick(s) and gives Houston a player they need. Perimeter defender/shooter or stretch 4. Or Houston could just take Bynum+assets and figure it out later.

No we shouldn't. I don't want players with motivational problems on my team. We have a good thing going now, don't disturb it.

Big NBA night, 12 games on today. Then this stupid "Bynum needs a new team" shows up, and totally spoils all the other happenings in the league right now.

just let him play golf or something, waive him

woodchuck 12-28-2013 04:40 PM

One deal that seems interesting to me:
Cleveland gets Asik
Houston gets Ilyasova
Milwaukee gets Bynum and something from Cleveland (some picks probably)

Milwaukee waives Bynum to save money and ends up with picks. Houston gets their stretch 4. Cleveland gets a center.

Another option, if there's truth to the rumor that Milwaukee wants to move Larry Sanders: Sanders for Bynum + picks.

I could also see Dallas interested. Shawn Marion + sweeteners. They are desperate enough for a post presence to take a gamble.

You have to wonder if he isn't trying to get out of Cleveland

Also Brooklyn they could really use another big now, Maybe Pierce for Bynum

Apparently they plan on releasing him before the contract becomes garanteed on Jan 7

Really? Interesting.

Shifty.py 12-28-2013 05:39 PM

How about Fields for Bynum and waive him. Frees up money for contracts for Lowry, Greivis and PP

Yep, looks to be true.

This ^. We had a player here before who was unmotivated and quit on us, even though I liked him in his early years of playing for the Raptors. What was his name, I remember Vince Carter haha. Bynum has always been an asshole both on and off the court. I don't want him anywhere near our team because he may take his teammates http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_4QUjB1JmnY...0/Bowling2.jpg :yeah:

The Cavs won't want Fields' bad contract when they can just waive Bynum and have cap space.

INSIDER 12-28-2013 05:59 PM

I could see Miami grabbing him. They need bigs to compete inside with Indy, and they know any unmotivated player would be insane to not want to play there, so that should get him motivated quickly since he'd be on the best team playing alongside the best player in the world..

Toby 12-28-2013 06:47 PM

You got teams like the Knicks and Nets and Lakers... all short on bigs, and buckets of cash to spend. I don't think Bynum will struggle to find a new home.

Cleveland can just waive Bynum without having to take on LF and his guaranteed salary for next season. Next!

I can see them trading Joel Anthony, their pick, and scraps for him.

INSIDER 12-28-2013 07:51 PM

if anyone offers up a pick, cleveland will jump all over that.... even if it ends up being the 30th pick.

N64 12-28-2013 08:03 PM

Varejao just turned into a top 10 player fantasy wise, happy I held on to him and dropped Bynum long ago. Bynum has to be the biggest waste of talent of this generation.

not likely.....I agree with an earlier post, I think Bynum is doing this to get out. Clips and Heat....anyone think the Lakers would entertain bringing him back?

Quote:

The former Lakers big man, troubled by knee injuries and possibly a lack of desire to play at the highest level, was suspended indefinitely by the Cleveland Cavaliers on Saturday for conduct detrimental to the team. Reports have the Cavs eager to deal Andrew Bynum. The Clippers, in need of frontline support behind center DeAndre Jordan and power forward Blake Griffin, could be one team interested in trying to make it work with the troubled 7-footer who had not long ago put himself in the discussion alongside Dwight Howard as the league’s top center. Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times breaks it down:

The Clippers would have interest in Bynum if he was released by the Cavaliers, according to several NBA executives who were not authorized to speak publicly on the matter.

But according to one Eastern Conference executive, the Clippers would have competition for Bynum because the Miami Heat also would have interest in the seven-footer.

The Clippers have the NBA-maximum 15-player roster and would have to waive a player if they were to sign Bynum, who is still only 26.

The Cavaliers signed Bynum to a two-year, $24-million deal over the summer. But only $6 million of Bynum’s $12.2-million contract for this season is guaranteed if he is waived before Jan. 7.

The Eastern Conference executive said it’s possible Bynum will be released by the Cavaliers in early January if they can’t trade him so the team is not on the hook for the last $6 million Bynum would be owed.

Bynum has averaged 8.4 points and 5.3 rebounds in 20.0 minutes in the 24 games he has played with the Cavaliers. He had 18 points and six rebounds in 24 minutes when he started for the Cavaliers against the Clippers on Dec. 7

No team in their right mind will touch him with a 10 foot pole now. Except maybe the knicks... because they are the knicks... and they are .. well... stupid.

Potential has a shelf life and bynums just expired.

Disagree. If a team can sign him for the rest of the year for a minimum contract and can waive him at any time, why would a contender not do it? There's no risk, and huge upside
