Cavaliers Shopping No. 4 Pick With Baron Davis, Ramon Sessions

Quote:

The Cleveland Cavaliers have plenty of flexibility heading into the 2011 NBA Draft, as they own the first and fourth overall selections. Though trading the top pick, certain to be Duke point guard Kyrie Irving, is out of the question, itís becoming clearer and clearer the Cavs are open to dealing the fourth pick on Draft night. From a chat ESPNís Chad Ford conducted Thursday afternoon:

Teams are telling me that trade talk really started picking up on Tuesday. Cavs are looking at potential deals using the No. 4 pick and either Baron Davis or Ramon Sessions.

We should take Baron and the pick for the TPE.... if it can be done.... MLSE can afford a Baron buy-out.

BC needs to use the TPE if it means gaining an asset like the 4th overall pick. I'm not a Baron Davis fan and his contract still has two years remaining, but the possibility of having the 4th and 5th overall picks is very appealing even in a down year for the draft. The Raps could potentially take Walker/Knight at #4 and then decide on whether to take Valanciunas, Kanter, Leonard, or Vesely with the #5 pick. Those would be two nice pieces to have.

The Raps, though, don't have enough room under the TPE to absorb Davis' entire contract. Sessions' contract, though, does fit. The Raps could also take on another smallish contract if necessary.

Knight, Davis, Kanter on draft night? Maybe it can be a 3 team deal where we get the #4 pick, and someone else takes Davis, maybe Cleveland would want Bargnani? Doubtful though. On a side note, if we don't move up in this draft we never will.
