trading depth for a star isn't a bad idea. DD isn't a star. It's a deal that only a Derozan fanboy would turn down. Landry and AA can make up the difference.

It's a pipe dream though.... we're stuck with DeRozan.

I wouldn't go that far. There is a market for a player like Derozan, but he's not going anywhere, not yet anyway.

and for good reason too.

trading DD would set this franchise back years, similar to the Tmac loss and chauncey loss. hes only 23 for gods sake and is a top 10-15 sg in the league!

You saying that it would set the franchise back years is ridiculous since it would have to be a trade, and if he's traded it would mean we'd be getting an asset(s) in return. And to equate a trade to T-Mac leaving as a FA is just as absurd.

He's a top 20 SG but a top 50 wing player. He's ok, but he's got a long, long way to go. Trading him for LaMarcus would advance this team.

Since I would give my left nut (maybe both) to have Aldridge, here's another trade idea.

Of course, this is assuming that all talk of Minny being interested in Bargs wasn't just bullshit.

Once again, we send our 2014 first to the Blazers, 2014 second to Wolves.

NBA Trade Machine - ESPN

EDIT: Apparantly Trade Machine sucks ass sometimes so incase link wont work:

Toronto: Aldridge

Portland: Derrick Williams, Terrence Ross, JJ Barea, Raps 2014 First

Minny: Bargnani, 2014 Second

If Cleveland acquired Aldridge, all the more reason for Lebron to return to Cleveland in the near future after opting out of his current deal during one of his upcoming player option years. He can win a couple more with Miami, then trade in Wade for a younger sidekick in Irving. Aldridge cancels out Bosh.

Well, they were talked of having interest in Bargs, so maybe they think the extra offensive threat and ability to create his own shot will make him a good 6th man (plus they love euros), especially since Love has been dealing with injuries.

Obviously though, our ability to acquire a star player like LA hinges on our chances of flipping Bargs for solid assets, which will be anything but easy. There were numerous teams mentioned to have interest in him at the deadline, even when he was injured, so hopefully we can find a way to do it. =)

I don't know how many times its been said on here about that rule of not being allowed to trade back to back picks... So squish all your trade ideas, wont happen.

Sorry to sound rude, but this has been mentioned SO MANY F-ING TIMES!

Note: If we acquired another pick for 2014 first, then we could do it!
Doesn't that rule no longer apply once a team has used the first rounder that you owe them? Therfore since OKC uses our pick this summer, we can trade next years pick away?

Yes, Chiggmo jumped the gun on that. The deal would have to be done after the draft.

Aldridge makes any NBA team better. His name in any trade discussion is an eye opener.

Blazers in budget mode. They want rookies. Rookies are cheaper and easy to manage.
Cleveland's 1st round pick + goodies and expiring contracts for Aldridge

That's surprising - thought the Blazers were on the way up? Really, I posted the link more because I thought it was amusing - the Blazers would stink even more without him.

Or..... and this is just an idea for Toby to send to management.... we can shed a few million per year in a Batum for DD swap as a favour.
