Default Carlos Arroyo to play with Maccabi

Quote:
Former Orlando Magic point guard Carlos Arroyo has signed to play in Israel next season, according to a newspaper in Israel.

Haaretz is reporting Sunday that Arroyo --- who played for the Magic since midway through the 2006 season --- will play for Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Arroyo, one of the Magic's most popular players, became a free agent after the 2007-08 season. But the club did not re-sign him, even though General Manager Otis Smith did not rule out that possibility last week.

I thought he was a decent backup PG behind Jameer.

Orlando lost Arroyo & Dooling and now look pretty thin at PG with only Jameer holding the fort.

They were thinner at pg with Arroyo there. Remember how Stan couldn't play the guy in the playoffs, without getting torched for the few minutes that he was forced to play him.

I agree. Arroyo will not a superstar even in Europe. he is not a team leader at physically, technically and mentally parameters

He was a 3rd stringer that argued with a HOF coach in Utah, couldnt hit a shot around a screen which took away his passing game, and couldnt defend a tree. Enjoy europe Carlos.

BTW the Magic signed Anthony Johnson who is a more than formidable backup PG, more stable than Dooling although not as talented.

Arroyo became overrated due to that one big game he had when Puerto Rico beat the US a couple years back.

They won't miss him. Dooling was a much bigger loss.
