Can of worms everywhere: Chris Bosh says he can be the best player in the NBA

And cue the arguments in 3......2......1.........

Quote:

Miami Heat forward Chris Bosh was the butt of criticism of many NBA fans at times last season when the heavily talented Heat seemed to underperform. The All-Star, considered by many to be the weakest member of the clubs big three, which features superstars Dwyane Wade and LeBron James, told Esquire that he thinks he can be the top player not just on his team, but the best in the NBA.

I still have the element of surprise. They dont expect me to do what Im going to do next year, Bosh told Esquire. I want to be the best player in the NBA. Maybe not this year or the year after next, but one day

He's not even the best player on his team. Not even the second best. :p

jeffb 12-22-2011 10:34 PM

What's there to argue about, this is laughable.

forme123 12-22-2011 10:39 PM

things like this make me embarrassed at the fact he was once a raptor...

'trane 12-22-2011 10:44 PM

it's not totally out of the question.

seconded. this irrational hatred for bosh is fine but think about it logically. bosh was, and i dont care what you say, a top 5 pf in the league, and top 10 player in the league his last year with us. why? he bulked, and bulked and bulked...

he did the same this year. if he keeps the muscle this time, adjusts to using it, over the next few years, with pressure taken off him as the threats of lebron and wade are on the perimeter, i could see bosh excelling greatly. everything has to click his way, and he has to WORK, but it is, as trane best put it, not out of the question.

He's definitely not the best in the game but at the same time you can't say that he "underperformed" while playing alongside 2 of the best sg's in the game, when he could barely demand the ball. And from what I remember he outperformed lebron in the finals

So he was say 4-5th best at his position and top 10 overall in the league? Come on! That would mean he isn't the best at his position but that there are only 5-6 players in the entire league better than him outside ouf the PF position? In a league of Paul, Wade, Lebron, Dirk, Durant, D-Will and on and on.....

I don't hate Chris Bosh and i think he's a very good player, but that's just wrong imo. I would say he was a top 20 player that year, probably top 15-16.

As much as I love Bosh, he would really have to channel KG to ever have a chance at being "the best".

Good to hear that he still wants to improve his game though. That can only be good news for MIA.

ValanciunasFanboy 12-23-2011 04:00 AM

I see nothing wrong with him or any other player saying that. As long as he's working on it.
Should he crawl under his bed and cry?

LX 12-23-2011 06:39 AM

He's hardly the only player that thinks that way. For a lot them it is an important aspect to performing well. He didn't say he was the best player right now, he laid claim to an aspiration. Perhaps a little unrealistic, but again - being realistic might not bear much fruit in terms of getting better. Lebron would do well to have some of that rub off on him.

Agreed, every player in the NBA should strive to be the best... it won't be an attainable goal for most but it should bring out the best in all of them.

ClutchCity 12-23-2011 06:45 AM

Not out of the question? There's no question. He will never be a top 10 player let alone the best. That's just ludicrous.

Superjudge 12-23-2011 08:02 AM

He was the Best Miami Heat player in the League Finals last year.... IMO. So why the hell not. All he needs to do is get out of Miami and on to a Team where he is given the reigns....er..... Like Toronto.

Oh, yes, nevermind.

I wonder how much regret he feels some days.

Benzo 12-23-2011 08:53 AM

I have no problem with him saying it.

Hell there is a big dude on our team I would love to hear say it. It's not going to happen, but shouldn't that be every players goal.

Superjudge 12-23-2011 10:14 AM

yup
