signing five players to 8 figure salaries shows commitment to winning

dumping them for nothing means that you're not, and you're fucking yourself being that you don't have cap flexibility even with iverson expiring next season.

fans don't care about the business, why should we? we want to see winning teams.
Fair enough, but to demand wins without acknowledging the business side of the organization (not saying you were doing this, but many do) is going to result in frustration from those fans.

Signing 5 players to those salaries does not necessarily show commitment to winning. It may (although I would argue that KMart and Nene were generally thought to be overpaid when they signed those deals though) but at the same time, it shows a disregard for the long term. Because guess what? If those contracts don't result in a winning team, as happened in Denver, then you're fucked.

Marcus Camby was part of a drastically overpaid, underperforming team and it's everyone elses fault that they had to dump his salary? He's at fault as much as anyone for the lack of a winning team.

He was the only big contract they could dump for free...maybe he was the scapegoat, but somebody has to be, and who else could it have been?

As for their cap situation, yes they're still fucked, but they're 10 million dollars less fucked, and they have to start somewhere.

I mean, they have 3 guys making huge money, so I understand making the move. But why move your defensive anchor, who remains one of the best 5 men in the league, and helped your team significantly without being a black hole like Melo and Iverson are.

I would've traded either of those two before Camby, especially considering you could trade either to a semi-contender and likely get good young talent back.

One thing though, is that this could be a precursor to another deal. Maybe they plan on getting rid of Iverson this summer too, thus committing to total rebuilding.

At this point, they're still way over the cap with two superstars that score and don't do much else. They won't make the playoffs, and that's hard to justify when you're spending a lot of money on two of the alleged best players in the league.

Either way, Clips fans (all 5 of them) are laughin right now.

i agree.

And I agree they're up shits creek without a paddle. My opinion on that hasn't changed.

I still don't think it was a good move for Denver. If I was doing the deal I would have tried to get young talent.

I'm not totally supporting the move, but after reading enough about it I can understand their reasoning.

My issue is with Camby speaking out against the deal. He should be able to understand why it happened, and he should deal with it.

Nah I think that would've too much, really. I think two 2nds would've been a lot more fair though. But you have to remember. He's not that good.
