In all fairness, that's still not 0 assists in a half. :P

I watched the first 10 mins. If his mates could hi a lay up or an open shot he would have had 5 easy.

Man Calderon does look horrible in blue LOOL. After a few practices, theyll get used to Calderons passes, its not like he does some Rondo stuff where its an unexpected pass

Honestly, Calderon looked exactly like Knight out there. The problem is that with the roster and it's up to Dumars to have the greatest summer of his life.
Quote:
There is no reason Calderon had to be in the less optimal lineups available. If he was playing without Knight he wouldn't force Knight into a role he's not accustomed to or by any appearances suited for.
Quote:
That's why Calderon should be the backup PG. Our defense benefits, Knight continues to improve and learn from him, and Bynum is gone forever. It's good all around.
Quote:
I think Calderon is our worst defender, is that possible?!?!?
Quote:
Calderon had 0TO's and shot 7-12, why is everyone complaining?
Quote:
I have always hated on Calderon for most/all of the reasons stated before, but he is one of the few PGs in the league who could make a scoring wing even better. Not every PG can play well next to a star, which is what made the Fisher's of the world so valuable.

Jose's not a lead guard and can't create, but because he doesn't turn the ball over, swings the ball without hesitation and is both a good off the dribble and in catch/shoot, he's the ultimate off-the-ball perimeter player on offense.

It's funny, because Rudy Gay would have been the best complement to his game he's ever had, instead he's been traded to another team with non-creators at the 2/3.

This team gives me a **** headache

Calderons hitting his shots and getting guys open looks, they just aren;t making them.
Quote:
Yeah, I suppose playoffs was always a bit optimistic, especially after trading Tay. I'd have preferred to get Gay instead of Jose since we were losing a 2 SFs, despite the cap hit, but whatever.
Quote:
He's mad Calderon is not the savior lol
Quote:
I don't have any confidence in Joe D as far as offseason spending goes, and for good reason.
Quote:
Can we just make Calderon our SG
Quote:
Calderon would really be much better at SG than Knight is.

I didn't see the game. Did Jose make decent passes but the other guys didn't make their shots or did he not make many good passes?

I assume it takes a while to know where guys are going to be and where they like the ball when you are a pass-first PG.

He was their leading scorer in his first game at least and the Pistons had more assists than turnovers.

From what I saw he made some nice passes, got guys looks, but they didn't hit them, but they looked like shit too.

I'm sure it will take them a while to get it sorted out.

With Thaddues Young out for at least a month catching PHI might have just got a whole lot easier.

I actually watched the game. Well most of it.

Calderon not having assists I think was about three things:
1) Other Pistons really sucked at finishing. He gave the ball to them in good positions and they were missing all kinds of shots, even layups (Calderon missed one himself) or turning it over (Monroe had 5 TO's I think)
2) They dont have Amir type of roller and no DD type of guy to come of the screen to shoot.
3) Chemistry not there yet in first game.

Still decent game from Calderon. 15points (Detroit high) on 7-12 shooting (I think second best percentage on Pistons). 0 turnovers. Actually I would say pretty good for first game. Once he learns his team mates and they learn how he plays, I think he will be fine there. The team still isnt going anywhere and I am pretty sure we will pass them before end of season.

In general Pistons sucked. And it wasnt only Calderon sucking in D. It was the whole team. They couldnt defend Melo who sucked in guys and passed out for open three and NY was shooting well from 3pt line.

I didnt watch the game, but saw some highlights. They showed some nice dishes that Jose were giving out, but their players just simply werent catching the ball resulting in a turnover
