Bulls Bulls to pursue Rip Hamilton

Quote:
The Chicago Bulls plan to pursue Rip Hamilton when he is bought out by the Detroit Pistons, according to a source familiar with the situation, and Derrick Rose said Hamilton would be a good fit.

"Rip is a winner," Rose said after the Bulls first practice Friday night. "I can't say nothing bad about him."

Richard Hamilton is nearing a deal with the Bulls, according to multiple reports.

Hamilton is expected to sign a two-year contract for about $10 million once his contract officially has been bought out by the Pistons.

looks like this is a done deal

Quote:
DEERFIELD, Ill. -- Former Detroit Pistons All-Star Rip Hamilton is expected to arrive in Chicago on Wednesday night, sign with the Chicago Bulls and practice with his new team on Thursday, according to a league source.

The Pistons waived Hamilton, 33, on Monday after nine seasons in Detroit.

The Chicago Tribune reported Hamilton will sign a two-year deal for $10 million, and the third year is a team option with partial guarantees on $5,150,000.

This should be interesting. I maintain that he was/is somewhat done right now.

They should've made a play for OJ Mayo in my view.

I like Rip for the Bulls, his movement off the ball itself will cause havoc and open the floor up for the rest. OJ would be great I admit but Rip has something to prove and 2 years? why not.

Rip is old, might as well keep Bogan in the starting lineup.

Really bjjs? Bogans over Rip? Really?

Rip is going to be a great fit with CHI if healthy. Hes fiesty on defence, knows how to win, and can knock down open shots. I'm really excited to see them play this year being able to play 5 on 5 on offence instead of 4 on 5.

Yeah, Rip is an ancient 33, whereas Bogans is a spring chicken at 31.

I'm much older than both and yet only 29. That team loses a lot more defensively with RIP in the starting lineup then they gain offensively, especially when they'll want Rose taking the majority of the shots.

The problem last year WAS Rose HAVING to take a majority of the shots due to their lack of creative offensive players. And I'd say Rip is on the same level as Bogans defensively, both being just above average.

Bogans sucks dude. Before he got to CHI he looked like a barely average defender. You add Rips savvy and already playing with a great defensive team and knowing what it takes plus Thibodeaus genius he'll be fine

You're on the ball here man. Rip in Chi-towns system is going to... Rip shit up.

I think this would be an awesome upgrade for the Bulls.

I'm somewhat biased as I don't like RIP because I love AI. But, trying to to set that bias asied, I think the bulls last year formed their identity as being hard-nosed and gritty, in large part due to having a physical SG in Bogans who would get in the face and get dirty with the league's stars. He played a big part in the CHicago Bulls becoming who they were. RIP, although good defensively, won't play that role.

Offensively, if the Bulls can end up using RIP as effectively as the Pistons did 5 years ago, then it's a big upgrade. RIP is perhaps the best player in the league running off screens without the ball. But you look at RIP the last few years where he isn't playing with great players, he has looked average. I'm not convinced that he'll find his element in Chicago.

And even if he does, come playoff time, I don't see him being the difference Chicago needs against Miami, as good as he is, he's an easy guard for any one of Battier, Wade, Lebron, and he doesn't match up well with any of those guys on the other end.

The key vs the Heat now is that they cant just load up on Rose on the perimeter by floating with whoever was on Bogans now that they have rip. But really, the key to beating the Heat now aside from getting Rose more room to operate and another option, is how Boozer plays. If Boozer plays like a dud again they have no chance, but if he transforms in to good Utah Boozer they definately can beat the Heat

Good point, in the sense that the actual number does not tell the full story. I've got a couple of bumb joints so I, too, have a body that is "much older" than those guys, despite being younger.

I still think RIP might have a couple of years in the tank.

Not sure if I agree with that, but, to be honest, I haven't been watching the Pistons much the past two years. I know RIP can still stick shots, though.

i agree, boozer is definitely the key. I've been one of the people who sticks up a bit for bosh, i think he's a very good player but if the boozer who can be beastly in the post turns up he can match or beat Bosh in that match-up.
