Bucher: Expect Howard to be traded this summer

Quote:

Does the Dwight trade go down this summer or next deadline? And would you dismiss the Bulls b/c Rose likes his core as is + Dwight wants it to be his stage. On the court the Nets are the better option than the Lakers longterm but how big of a star does Dwight want to be?

Ric Bucher (1:53 PM)

I would expect a Dwight trade this summer or before the next season starts, from what I'm hearing. Rose likes his core because it's the core he has. He's not opposed to the Bulls improving it.

Should the Bulls go after Dwight Howard this summer if he pulls a Melo and the Bulls lose early? Noah and Boozer for Howard and Bass seems like a solid offer, right?

Ric Bucher (1:59 PM)

Let's put it this way: Dwight should want to go to Chicago and play with Rose. That combo would be Kobe-Shaqesque. But from all I hear, Dwight is looking at LA or NJ. Nothing in between.

yuck - I hate that trade - and I'm not a huge Boozer fan.

Wish we could actually offer something and dwight would be willing to come.

Bayless/Demar/JJ or Kleiza/Bargs/Dwight.

Irving/Bayless
Derozan/Barbosa
JJ/Kleiza
Davis/Amir
Dwight/?

;)

This is why we can't have nice things.

I figured in order to get him the first pick and davis would be a minimum as well as talking back some questionable contracts.

I hate the trend of players teaming up.

End unrestricted free agency and make sure all teams have a chance to match offers.

with a hard cap at around 65 mil this idea is solid gold. however it does screw players who want to dip the city

bosh is a better player on both ends, though i'd give a slight edge to boozer on the glass. i always said bosh would have been better off going to chicago or OKC than Miami. He would have made the bulls a 70 win team at some point.

70, are you high?

Scully 04-16-2011 06:16 PM

Does LA even want this trade. With Bynum looking more and more like a 40 to 50 game guy, does Gasol not become the trade asset that Orlando would want in return. I don't know if losing Pau for Howard is worth it in the long run. I think Pau brings more skills to a triangle offense then Howard. Not only that but if they lose Phil which is the rumor, wouldn't keeping the core together be a huge priority.

Boozer is a way better defender then Bosh. His defensive posture is almost 6 wide, the guy is wall.

Way better? Have you seen Boozer play D at all? His lateral quickness is nothing compared to Bosh's.

Yes I have seen him play twice live and countless times on Tv. Both times I watched live from the base line. That's why I said what I said. When he is low in that posture he blocks off the entire top of the key. Laterally he can keep up with every pf in the league, and he discourages drives because he takes up so much space as a help defender. Neither have a reputation of being shot blockers. IMO Boozer has the advantage In keeping people out of position, help defense, steals and rebounding.

Ex2k 04-17-2011 12:35 AM

With Kobe ageing... If I was Dwight I'd rather team up with Rose in Chicago...

ClutchCity 04-17-2011 01:49 AM

If I were the Lakers I would actually be willing to trade Odom/Bynum for Dwight and a throw-in like Bass. Gasol and Howard are both capable of playing 40+ minutes and Bass can play the remaining minutes when one rests. Howard is not as good as Bynum offensively, but his defense is better and health is a huge factor. Gasol's job would become so much easier too.

pzabby 04-17-2011 02:57 AM

you know if no hard cap is introduced over the cba negotiations, i can see miami throwing in an offer like bosh plus multiple picks for dwight. orlando wouldnt except but they may have to if another melo comes onto the scene and he demands a trade to the heat. the heat lineup would then be
bibby
Wade
James
Haslem
Dwight
