Default Bryant, Iverson, Paul, Roy out of All-Star Game

Kaman, Lee, Billups, and Kidd are the replacements.

Quote:
Jason Kidd of the hometown Dallas Mavericks has been chosen to replace Bryant. New York's David Lee is replacing Iverson...

Mavericks owner Mark Cuban said it took a little lobbying to league officials to name Kidd as Bryant's replacement.

"But once we laid it out, they were really excited about it," Cuban told reporters in Dallas.

Although he is still scheduled to travel to Dallas and take part in All-Star Weekend festivities as a spectator, Bryant is the third West guard to pull out of Sunday's game through injury. Stern chose Denver's Chauncey Billups to replace New Orleans' Chris Paul (knee) and Los Angeles Clippers center Chris Kaman to take the spot of Portland's Brandon Roy (hamstring).

A little lobbying... Must've sucked Stern's dick to get Kidd in there.

Billups should have been in there anyways, and Andrea really should be in there ahead of Lee.

Ah well.

lee is a good player, but if he wasn't on such an awful team where anyone could put up 20 points, the correct choice--andrea, would likely be more clear.

The positive that comes from Kidd being in the game is he spices up the action because the game needs good real PGs to run the break and not turn it over like all the other players do trying stupid shit. Kidd will be exciting in the game.

Lee didnt deserve to make it. He puts up empty stats on a horrid team and hes the worst defensive player at his position starting in the nba

I don't really care for the Sunday game as much, because the more I watch it, the more I want it to end so the season can start back up..

it gets boring sometimes, the most fun is on Friday and Saturday night

smith too

Bargnani time may come but its not that time just yet

Although i think Josh Smith should have made it ahead of David Lee, i still cant discount the season he is having this year.
20/12 is nothing to scoff at ,even if it is on a shitty NY team, so what.

everyone is on Tyreke Evan's nuts for putting up 20/5/5 on a horrible Sac team... or how about Danny Granger's ridiculous numbers on a worse Indy team. no one disses them.
and those are just 2 examples.
a player who puts up 20/12 is no fluke... good or bad team, you have to be damn good to continually put up those kinda stats.

i think sometimes it can be even more challenging for the best guys on shit teams to put up big numbers because opponents put more pressure on these guys knowing that the rest of the team cant do squat.
Lee is awesome in my books.

Lee is a good player. Is all the criticism fair? Not necessarily. But I don't think we'll know for sure until he plays with new teamates or leaves New York. The one knock on Lee that I think might be fair, is his apparent lack of defense. But, in Dantoni' system, he's used primarily as a Center. Lee is undersized for that position. He might be a better all around player as a PF playing next to a real Center.

Anyways, I kind of agree with Grannyfro that Bogut deserved to be in the game. Bogut is a big reason why the Bucks are even challenging for a playoff spot. In the pre-season, I doubt many people thought the Bucks would win 25 games this season. Bogut is solid on both ends of the court. In 32 minutes, Bogut averages a double/double and 2 blocks.

Per 36 minutes
Bogut:
FG% .522
PPG: 17.8
RPG: 11.4
APG: 2.2
BLK: 2.4

Lee:
FG%: .557
PPG: 19.4
RPG: 11.1
APG: 3.4
BLK: 0.4

I take Bogut because of what he does on both ends. If the Bucks make the playoffs, Bogut will have earned evey penny of his salary for this season.

look where bogut is when it comes to drawing charges as well Taking the Charge -- NBA offensive fouls drawn from 82games.com

guy's gritty as all hell and exposed bargnani's weaknesses when he played this team

Haha my bad, it was too early in the morning. Should be Kaman instead of one of the Kidds.

I'm sure the replacements are stoked to play.

Kinda late notice from the injured players though.... i guess they waited to see if their injury(ies) would get better.
