Source: Nets Lose Lopez For Season

The Brooklyn Nets have lost Brook Lopez for the remainder of the season with a broken foot, a league source has confirmed.

Lopez broke the surgically-repaired right foot that he fractured in 2011 and later had a screw replaced in.

He is believed to have suffered the injury sometime in the second half of Brooklyn's loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Friday night.

Lopez played 44 minutes, including many with the injury. The Nets discovered the injury after the game when Lopez underwent X-rays on his troublesome foot.

Very sad. You have to wonder if it has at least something to do with the Adidas shoes, with Rose's and Brooks recurring major injuries. This injury may be Brooks last unfortunately.

Lopez appeared sluggish in Friday night’s game and didn’t look like his usual dominant self on the inside. Lopez had been dealing with left ankle sprains this season, and perhaps that contributed to this major injury to his other foot.

Lopez may have suffered the injury in the third or fourth quarter of last night’s game, toughing it out and playing through the entire overtime period, and maybe more, with a broken foot. It’s the very same injury he suffered back in the 2011-12 season, a fractured fifth metatarsal in his right foot. The same foot he’s had three surgeries on.

It’s devastating. Absolutely devastating. Brooklyn will now have to scramble to pull themselves out of a 5-17 hole without their best player. I imagine that Kevin Garnett will now move back to the center position primarily, but it sure is asking a lot of Garnett, Andray Blatche and Mason Plumlee to make up for Lopez’s production.

That sucks for Lopez. Hope he fully recovers and has no setbacks along the way, as I enjoy watching him play.

RIP my fantasy team.

So Atlanta looks primed to get homecourt advantage and a top pick 5 (via Brooklyn). That's an enviable position.

Chiggmo 12-21-2013 03:06 PM

He's had multiple injuries this year has he not? Sucks for him, good player. Net's can't catch a break.

brooklyn simply cant allow that for their own sake and will have to trade out of it.

had him last year, or the year prior, and he was so damn injury prone. I stay far away from him and Eric Gordon, who screwed me in two leagues.

yup. pacers aside...atlanta has the brightest future in the east. amazing position they're in right now.

This is good for the Rap's playoff chances.

:eekout:

It is though obviously.

Lopez is not the only player who's season is finished as Charlotte just said that Jeffery Taylor will be out the rest of the season with a rupture of his Achilles Tendon. He suffered it last night against the Pistons when he slipped on the floor. Video is on NBA.com

People here massively overrate us every year. Nothing new, just fans hoping the best for their team.

CHA lost to Utah just to prove the point.

TORaptor4Ever 12-22-2013 01:36 AM

BKN still has Blatche... and Teletovic has been coming on recently... in addition to Pierce rounding back into form.

I wouldn't write the obit for the Nets quite yet.

Does make me wonder if they'll make a play for pricey guys like Boozer and Pau... or maybe a deal like Monroe?

Dario 12-22-2013 04:49 AM

poor guy

jeffb 12-22-2013 09:16 AM

If the Nets end up in the lottery they would likely be a team very willing to trade the pick.
