Default BREAKING NEWS: Sonics heading to Oklahoma next season.

Quote:
The Seattle Supersonics have reached a settlement with the city that likely will allow the team to move to Oklahoma City in time for the start of next season, franchise sources said Wednesday afternoon.

U.S. District Judge Marsha Pechman was to announce her verdict in the trial between the city and the team Wednesday before the settlement was reached.

Details of the settlement are to be announced at a news conference early Wednesday evening.

Bye bye Seatle. An important franchise losing its history...

Default Oklahoma City Sonics? No... Barons!

It is the color scheme that's gaining steam for the uniforms of Oklahoma City's prospective NBA franchise — black and gold.

With The Oklahoman's NBA Team Name Contest now whittled down to the Final Four nicknames — Thunderbirds, Barons, Outlaws and Thunder — opinions still vary on what the team should be called. But some, like Moody, are among a growing segment who thinks black and gold could work as the team colors no matter the nickname or mascot.
Jersey does not look so hot, but I like OKC Thunder. Click the link to see the Baron Jersey.

The names are down to 4 choices, Barons, Thunder, Thunderbirds and Outlaw.
Or they might just stay as Sonics, but Seattle wants to keep that name in case they get another franchise.

I am fucking pissed over this news. This is bullshit. Why Oklahoma? Seattle is a beautiful city. I give it two years before they look to move yet again. Look at failed experiements in Memphis and even New Orleans until this past season.

I really hope Seattle gets a team again.

They wouldn't really pick the Thunderbirds would they? I mean there has to be one guy in the room during the discussion who brings up the puppets on strings and the bad movie and describes all the easy jokes they're setting themselves up for - right?

I like kinda like Thunder though.

Sucks for Seattle. Too bad. I'd be willing to bet that the team will be having this same type of discussion - leaving town that is - in under 10 years.

Screw Oklahoma City. Whats with them and basketball teams? NO and now Seattle??

Just keep it the way it's been going for the whole time. No need to change city every year.

it takes too much time to finally accept that there is s team in Okla. city and there isnt one in seattle. seattle sonics have a great history and were a good team winning one championship.
