76ers Brand going to Philly

5 years, 82 million

1. FUCK, more competition

2. It never gets easier for Clippers fans... Holy god. Just when it looked like they were going to be in the picture for the next 5 years...

Dam, just when I thought we were gonna contend...
Brand just betrayed the Clippers, I feel sorry for Baron.
I hope Brand is injury-prone next season and plays like half the season and no playoffs. I still think we are better. The East is looking a lot stronger too. I don't blame Brand, the Clips might not have even made the playoffs even with both.

This is as expected. No surprise here. It looks like that trade earlier work....if it did happen

But man, $16.4 million, that's a lot of dough.

Baron's intro press conference tomorrow was cancelled. dhun dhun dhun

Even if he does sign, the Clips actually still have quite a bit of capspace to make a run at Smith, Biedrins, Okafor, or wing players like Deng, Ellis, or Iguodola.

If they get Biedrins or Okafor, they still look pretty good for the future.

If i was the L.A. Clippers or Baron Davis i would be mad right now, Elton Brand gave the team his word that he would opt out so they could sign Baron Davis and now he turns around and accepts a better offer... i guess a verbal agreement does not mean as much as it use to

Brutal. I used to like Brand til this. He promised them he'd be back during the season then told Baron he wanted to play with him then bolts for the money. What other excuse could their be to choose Philly over LAC and one of your best friends? Brands a mofo.

On the flip side, what the hell is gonna happen with Iguodala? Is this the writing on the wall? They could get a good SG for him easily and have Young start and have one of the stronger starting lineups in the league. Gonna be tough to re sign him though, Philly fans are talking trade when it comes to iggy,.

Or Brand may not..You know.

Elton Brand is going to go to Philly and i honestly think that Baron will walk away from his verbal agreement with L.A. Clippers

For sure Baron is somewhere, hopping mad :upset:

he could go nuclear :redbite:

Does Iggy's contract expire soon? I'd think Philly would try to see him play next to Brand before considering moving him

Yeah I also used to like Brand and some are saying he liked the idea of going to the east, I don't fault him on that one, but you can't stab the clips in the back and he has made a new enemy - Baron Davis. I doubt Baron walks away, no other team can offer him that much money and i highly doubt the Warriors are at the top of his list. This reminds me of when Boozer low-blowed Cleveland.

Yeah Baron isn't going anywhere. Baron is on the Clippers, Brand is on the 76ers. And its going to stay like that. I feel bad for Baron and the Clips though. Brutal move by Brand.

If they were going to give out the max, I think they were right to give it to Brand and not Smith.

This team needs a focal point, and as much as I love Andre Igoudala, he didn't seem comfortable in that position.

They've got a beastly front line, a steady veteran point guard and some young depth. They should probably play some good defense too.

I would argue that this makes them a better team in 08/09 than signing Smith would. Down the road, who knows...but at this point I think this was a good move.

Baron has no right to be mad about anything. Unless Brand told Baron that he was coming back, Baron should have assumed he was leaving. It's not like he was leaving the defending champs or something. He was supposed to leave money on the table to play with Baron Davis and the mighty Clippers? Shit, most players would leave money on the table to play anywhere BUT the Clippers.

And now the Hawks are going to fall ass backwards into re-signing Josh Smith. Unbelievable.

Reports where that Elton Brand and Mike Dunleavy had discussions and after they talked Elton Brand told the clippers he would opt out of his current contract and take less money to welcome Baron to the team

I hope the clips then make a play for Josh smith. He'd look mighty good on that team.

And I still hate Brand.

If the Clips did make a move for Smith - wow, that would be one hell of an athletic team with Davis, Thorton, Gordon and Smith.

But damn.. the Sixers got better. A lot better. They have a pretty solid starting 5 in Sammy D, Brand, Young, Iguodala and Miller. They can bring Louis Williams, Reggie Evans, Jason Smith, Marasee Spreights off the bench. I think there's another team that leapfogged us in the standings.

Before I get excited about them I want to see their chemistry first. Whenever Andre Miller plays with players at a high level he becomes mediocre (see his first stint in LAC and then Denver). I'll judge them after that.

Sixers are going to be very strong this year. They just need some back-up for Willie Green and they're set. They should trade one or two of these guys (J. Smith, Amundson, Hill) for a possible 7-8 ppg 2nd string SG. Maybe even try to go for a guy in the likes of Kelenna Azubuike of GS. He's an RFA but GS probably won't match it with Maggette and all.

all the sixers needed was a PF... and now they got one in Brand. he'll easily put up 20/10.
but in order to be an elite team, the will need to re-sign Iggy.
if Iggy isnt on this team, i dont see them really effecting the east too much; even with this Brand acquisition.
Iggy is an all-around monster and stat stuffer. they gain a big man who can score and rebound, but they may end up losing a player who can score, rebound, play D, run the court and do so much. Look at the suns when they lost Marion... they looked old and slow.
Philly may fall into that same trap.
it would be a mistake to lose Iggy.
