Default Boston shopping Perkins and #19 to get into Lottery

RealGM: Basketball Wiretap Archives: Celtics Shopping Perkins In Attempt To Get Into Lottery

Boston is looking to package Perkins as well as the 19 pick in order to move into the lottery. Who are they going after?

Perkins' knee must really be fucked for this to be true. And if that is true he's going to fail his physical so the trade likely wont happen. Perk is really solid, unless Boston is going to completely rebuild and trade PP/KG too, I dont see why they'd trade Perk.

I thought Perkins' lack of speed was hurting the Celts before he went down with the knee injury. That speed won't be any better when he gets back.

i think that perkins let them down in the playoffs.
he basically went from averaging 10/8 in the regular season, to 5/6. i think in their mind, any 7 footer can do that.
his knee is probably going to take some time to heal, and the celtics arent just going to wait around.

The Celts are silly if they do this.

Sheed is done. KG is aging fast.

And they're going to get rid of Perkins??

WTF? Is Big Baby going to carry the frontline by himself?

Makes no sense.

statistics don't show the real reason of the success that perkins has given to the team, he brought toughness in the paint and he gave bigs a fight as you can see from gasol's dominance after perkins went down, gasol's rebounding stats while perkins was playing:

game 1:
8 offensive, 6 defensive
game 2:
3 offensive, 5 defensiv
game 3:
2 offensive, 8 defensive
game 4:
1 offensive, 5 defensive
game 5:
7 offensive, 5 defensive

when perkins went down:

game 6:
3 offensive 5 defensive
game 7:
9 offensive, 6 defensive

link for gasols stats:
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3513/gamelog

though only gasols stats alone don't prove my argument we could clearly see that when he went down the lakers went on a offensive rebounding tear, especially in game 7, perkins was a huge factor to the celtics froncourt defense and contributed greatly in securing the boards, now i know what you're saying about him not contributing offensively but it was probably because that the big three needed their touches while perkins gets the garbage buckets. But i just don't see him being a huge dissapointment, i think rasheed wallace chipped in the most to their downfall

If the Celts are rebuilding, then it makes sense. With Pierce potentially opting out of his deal and KG quickly declining, Boston has some tough decisions to make. And Doc Rivers still has not committed to coming back to the team. When they are healthy, the Celts can still play like a 55+ win team (a contendor). But who is confident these guys can stay healthy? They had enough trouble this season. The playoff schedule gave them a shit load of rest, and without that rest, things could have been much different.

Unfortunately, at least for Celtics, the draft comes quickly after the playoffs, so Ainge has to make very important decisions in a short period of time. To be honest, I would have been fucking shocked if they didn't at least talk about a rebuild. Ainge has to be prepared for the worst, or else it will creep up on him and bite him in the ass. There are just too many question marks when it comes to the Celts lineup for next year.

Does Allen re-sign? Can they work out a reasonable contract?

Does Pierce opt out of his contract?

Does Rivers agree to come back? If not, who is the new coach?

How much does KG have left in the tank?

TOO MANY QUESTIONS.

If you're Ainge, you need to think about a re-build. You have to at least think about it.

Boston is done imo so to me it makes sense to add some youth to play with Rondo. I know they made it to the finals, but that was their last kick at the can. They'll need to start slowly adding youth.

playing or not, those rebounding numbers look identical (with the exception of game 4). how is game 7 any different than game 1? or game 6 different from game 5 or 2?
Gasol was a beast regardless of Perkins' presence.
