Are you really sure that you want to compare a ROOKIE who's just learning the game (who's primarily a defender) to a 6-time all-star who put up 20 & 10 for almost 4 straight years?

Really?

And Bosh is going to get abused by the Bulls IMO, but doesn't mean the heat can't win. It's going to be the defence on Rose and Wade that decides it.

And Ed Davis wouldn't make Miami better, but Garnett or Varajao would .
Huh? How would having Varejao improve MIA when they already have Anthony?

I think that some of you are forgetting that MIA's offense works at it's best BECAUSE a guy like Bosh spreads the floor for Bron and Wade.

Sideshow Bob wouldn't have a hope in hell of doing that.

For one thing, he doesn't chuck shots. He's about as efficient a player as any out there. To choose that part of his game to be critical of is borderline hysterical.

Great way to avoid answering the question. More dodging. You could answer a simple question.

So you wanted 2 all-star calibre players.

The minute Cleveland had cap space after drafting Lebron, what did they do?

They signed the best available free agent, Larry Hughes, who, during the prior season, averaged 22 ppg and 5 apg and led the league in steals and was named to the FIRST team ALL NBA defensive squad.

Hmm...sounds quite a bit like all those "two way" "all-star" players you keep saying GMs need to surround stars with. Just saying.

if you're going to vigorously make claims the way you do, you should probably be ready for dudes to vigorously counter them and ask you to defend them. it's not bullshit, it's debate.

I've stated (and defended) my views numerous times.... and there are knowledgeable posters here who don't seem to have a problem grasping any of the arguments that I put forth (LX and bjjs to name a few).

There are a few posters here who like to argue with me simply for the sake of arguing... which is fine... but I reserve the right to decide when I've had enough and ignore them. This isn't something that JUST started... it's been going on for MONTHS.

You know that how? When comparing a rookie to a perenial All-Star and saying he's better, you shouldn't start the arguement with "IF".

ONE good season? It's a little bit reminiscent of how some players here were promoted after one good season. That can prove to be a very bad move more times than not.

And Lebron needed to justified to leave Cleveland? What kind of straw man is that? The dude was a free agent. He didn't need an ounce of justification. He needed to make a choice on his own future, and he did.

I don't really buy into what Toraps is saying regarding teams being fortunate enough to have capable GMs. I think a lot of it is just good fortune. Pat Riley is pretty good at making his own good luck though.

Who's getting pissy? Am I sending you (or any other mod) PMs asking for ACGM to be banned? Lol... I'm a big boy and I can take care of myself.

As far as I'm concerned the matter is settled.... not sure why you're making it into something bigger than it is.

Just because they know the game well, does not mean they recognize all the holes in your post.

For example, the fact that Larry Hughes got injured in Cleveland hurt his game. A guy like LX and bjjs might not remember that he was a FIRST team All-NBA defensive player who averaged 22ppg, 5 apg and led the league in steals when Cleveland signed him.

So when you make statements about Cleveland not knowing how to build a winner and talk about "needing 2 all-stars" they might not know that your making a statement that is completely unfair to the Cavs.

And this type of scenario applies to other points, as well.

Perhaps... hard to cry about "poor fortune" though when you sign Hedo to a monster deal after letting Marion walk (who was a much better fit).

That's kind of making your OWN "bad luck" IMO.

So was drafting Bargs... who even at his BEST would have still duplicated Bosh's skillset and casued a lot of redundancy. We've been through this 29386298462 x before though so I'll leave it at that.

So are you saying "no" to the question of signing him? As for having 1 good season, that's debatable. He had averaged 19 ppg in the season before the one I mentioned, and was regarded as a solid defender; he had good length for a guard.

Related to that point, the Cavs had a limited amount of time to use cap space because once Lebron signed his extension it would all be eaten up. It's pretty tough to turn down a two-way player who put up those stats and was recognized by the league's coaches as a defensive stopper.

Quote:

You're missing the context, so that's probably why you think it's a strawman. Yes, he's a free agent, so he could do whatever he wants. But I was not contesting that. I was refering to how TORap has stated he doesn't blame Lebron for leaving because Cleveland's GM did not build a proper winner or championship team. If you want to replace "justified" with "good reason to leave" then go ahead, but changing semantics does NOT change the point TORap has made on multiple occassions.

Right. We agree quite a bit about this. I actually wrote something ealier in this thread about Boston's big 3 but just said "fuck it" and deleted it. Numerous people also would have done what Danny Ainge did if they were in his position. He had the right assets and connections at the right time.
