Default Bosh: "It’s impossible to have that same fire, that same hunger"

I get it and he's spot on:

Quote:
Maybe it’s not the Disease of More on the Heat since they seem to be a pretty unselfish bunch. But perhaps it’s the Disease of Malaise considering it’s much more difficult to get motivated after winning a title. [...] It’s clear the Heat (12-5) haven’t been as hungry this season as they were in 2011-12, when they were driven by the devastating loss to Dallas in the 2011 NBA Finals. Just ask Miami center Chris Bosh. ‘Yes, it’s impossible to have that same fire, that same hunger,’ Bosh admitted. ‘The hunger changes, but we don’t have the same motivation and we have to find different motivations now. And I think that motivation is always just trying to be the best and sometimes you got to be knocked down a few times in order to get that back.’”

I dont think Lebron lost that motivation, just the rest of the heat has. especially wade, who has clearly lost a step.

They haven't lost so much motivation. They are playing hard. I think Bosh himself is in a bit of a momentary lull, but it's just part of going through the marathon. I don't think the concept of positionless basketball is working over the course of 48 minutes, if it means Lebron needs to defend mostly bigger players over that time.

This team tried a ton of different lineups last season. Nothing seemed all that satisfactory from one week to the next. Even in the playoffs they went through all kinds of change-ups. Lebron gives them a lot of different ways to win, since he can play so well at 3 or 4 positions. But as a team they kill other teams defensively when he can guard small forwards and guards. When he has to guard bigs they can shoot over him regardless of how well he defends, and Wade is exposed more against the smalls at the same time. But if they get really good at incorporating different options throughout games and against different matchups, then they will be far ahead of last season where they were really just winging it so often.

How about the fact that they promised 7 championships?

Yeah get together in your prime, piss everyone off, call yourself the heatles and be satisfied after winning a single ring, nice.

Yep - Bosh is being Bosh; he has phases. Momentary lull describes it best.

Wade is being Wade; he hasn't gone hard through an entire regular season since his rookie year. He picks his spots.

Much like BOS... I really don't think MIA cares about winning games until it's post-season time.

Bosh is out of his lull. Wade has some zip in his euro step. And getting Joel Anthony back in the rotation looks to have made a difference.
