Bosh: I'm ready to play center

Quote:

You know, as much as every time I try to run from it, it just comes and pulls me back in, he said during the start of informal team workouts Thursday at AmericanAirlines Arena. So I accept it. If Im a five, put me down there, have me guarding the biggest guy, I accept the challenge. It is what it is. Every year that Ive said Oh, no, Im not doing it, Im in there anyway. So, I accept it.

Bosh boasted to the media that he now bench presses between 50-70 pounds more than he used to.

Chris Bosh, still stinging from the Miami Heats NBA Finals loss, sounds like hes ready to shed the soft label and dominate on the inside. Whether anyone else but Bosh is prepared to believe that, remains a mystery.

Interesting.... I hope to God that he's put back on the weight that he had in his last season with us then.

He's going to need it.

Better him than Dalembert.

DDUnreal 12-02-2011 08:30 PM

I'd love to see him go up against marc gasol

Claudius 12-02-2011 08:31 PM

I dunno, I saw him play the 5 a few times last year when the Heat go with a small line up (when I think they're at their best personally).

Go to a zone defense where you can avoid the bumping and grinding of man to man defense and on a shortened season it could work.

I think it's a bit of a slight on Joel Anthony.... I rarely saw Bosh play C last year and I watched a lot of Heat bball. It is admirable that he's willing to step up and do it, but we'll see if it lasts. Too bad he wasn't willing before though, may have helped the Raptors.... If he could have been more like KG, maybe we would have done something.....

Don Vito 12-02-2011 09:01 PM

Damn I hope so. If we get Tyson Chandler it will be fun to watch chandler vs bosh.. especially under Dwayne Casey. :cookie:

I don't think its too much a stretch for Bosh to play centre. I think the big question is if he can stay healthy all year at the position.

'trane 12-02-2011 10:50 PM

oh ffs. complain about it in t.o., and all of a sudden it's all good in miami. way to go chris. must feel great to be out of the cage.

He said that he could bench 50-70 pounds more then he used to. What does that put him at now? 115 pounds?

Now, now don't be mean... it's a bitch benching with long arms!

Trust me I know!

Ligeia 12-03-2011 03:49 AM

I think the Heat were wicked when they went small with Bosh at the 5 and pushed the pace, but he complained that putting muscle on slowed him down too much when he was with the Raptors. It will be interesting to see who they pick up during free agency.

Obi-Wan Quinnobi 12-03-2011 09:17 AM

Try benching with 110 cm arms when your only 6 foot! Handy for shooting over peoples heads though

The truth of it is this.... as long as Wade and Lebron are healthy, the Heat are contenders. It doesn't matter if Bosh plays PF or C..... that team is all about the big 2. They can't both be terrible for long stretches and each has a real history of carrying their teams alone. The real problem, if they really have any, is that everybody but the big two is afraid to make decisions and take shots on their own initiative. It's the same thing as in Cleveland when Lebron would pound the ball and all would watch. Mike Brown allowed that to continue, we'll see if Spo can impose confidence on the role players. As for who plays C? Anybody willing to be active and play a little D, hit an open J without hesitation (even Bosh had hesitation last year quite often) and they'll continue to be leading contenders. They go as the big two go. Take one away, whether due to injury or not, and that team becomes one of the many contenders.

It's funny, Reggie Evans would be a fantastic fit on Miami.

I think that we both know that that's not true.

The Heat were at their most dominant when all 3 stars were involved and playing well.

Take ANY one out of the equation and they're not winning a title.
