growth is one thing. suddenly changing from 'attention whore' to 'indifferent', while pretending you were never the former is not growth. it's just a statement. to really grow you would show some evidence over time.

God damn mid-20 year old millionaires for spending their money on things other than escorts, booze and an entourage. What an asshole CB was for trying to be something more than just a basketball player. Youtube/Facebook, who did he think he was? A regular mid-20 year? What a douche.

good for him for changing or growing if indeed he has.

Either way it's still amusing to see him coming to grips with his failed attempts at popularity. Because everyone and their mother knows how important it was for him. Hell he even said it was one reason why he left toronto.

He had more popularity in the league while in Toronto, with his stats, all-star selections and Youtube stuff than he's had in Miami. Kind of funny really.

No one said he was a douche, but it is somewhat comical and perhaps a tad pathetic that he swung for the fences and tried so hard to grow his brand and when it backfired, now pretends like that sort of thing is not important to him.

It's like the dude who really, really digs a chick and puts on a huge show to try and woo her, and when she rejects him he says, I never really liked her anyway.

I would say the growth might be in him hoping to gain attention as a winning basketball player. I don't think for a second he doesn't like or want attention. But there are different avenues for that. He's always showed a love for the game, and if he can gain attention playing for championships, then it probably surpasses the other shit which he also did out of having a real interest as well just wanting attention. He's also married, and has a kid and might be just a little more grounded now.

yep, still remember him saying this:

Quote:
"I mean, really it's all about being on TV at the end of the day," Bosh said following the pre-game shoot around.
"Seriously, a guy can average (20 points and 10 rebounds) and nobody cares. If you don't see it, it doesn't really happen."
A lack of popularity definitely played a role in his decision to leave Toronto. He cared for it at one point but it seems that he has given up. Unfortunately due to all the jokes in the past (Rupaul of big men, "Like a Bosh") it made it pretty entertaining for some to poke fun at the guy and who knows if he'll ever be taken seriously.

The key difference being that he said "it doesn't matter to me", not, "it never mattered to me".

Acie, you were/are in a band and now you're a family man... I think. Didn't you once swing for the fences? Is that thing still important to you? Priorities change over time do they not?

Since when is swinging for the fences in life a bad thing?

Nope, still in a band (two different bands in fact)...still very important, still making money, still doing what I love to do and still swinging for the fences.

Never said his about-face was a bad thing or he's a bad person, it's just amusing to me.

Do your bands write originals or are you the band that plays fun covers for drunk people?

I wonder what Bosh's reaction was to the "Like a Bosh" song was.. that clip was hilarious..

Yep.

What's amusing to ME is how much bitterness people still have about Bosh when the guy was a model player for us here for 7 years.

I never heard anything at all about him being an attention whore when he was in a Raps uni. He enjoyed his FA summer, which was certainly his right. Big deal. After being called "Ru Paul"... after being called "soft"... after being called "just another decent player putting shots on a bad team".... after having people rank EVERY other decent PF over him for years, it's not surprising that the guy might have been feeling a little slighted and eager to show that he actually IS a star... and not just an afterthought.

Shit lol.... it was just last year that some people here were arguing that the Heat didn't even need Bosh and Haslem could fill his role easily.

I don't think anyone is bitter, but perhaps tone is mistaken often on the web..... I still do think the Heat could have spent that money more wisely than on Bosh, but that doesn't mean I hate him. He's a good player..... though he was coddled here and built up into more than he was. Fans will believe anything that is spun.

See.... it's comments like those in bold that make me scratch my head.

The Heat won 60 games and went to the finals last year in their 1st season together. I'd call that a wildly successful season.

And "coddled"? "Built up into more than he was?" Sure you're not thinking about Bargs?

Just because they had a successful season does not mean that it couldn't have been more successful. It's assumptions like that which make me scratch my ass.

As for the coddled... I believe it... and Bosh never got incessantly ripped on because of his heritage and on court demeanor and other trivial and insignificant reasons. It's not a slight against Bosh, it's against management, the media and fans.

I don't hate Bosh and Bargnani has nothing to do with this thread!

Like he has a choice? They have 2 alpha dogs......and everyone else.

Anyway, he does not get attention because he is not a flashy guy. and he has game, but it's not a flashy game. Further, he kind of looks like a Raptor. That's never good for poularity.

Bold Point #1: So essentially you're saying that if Miami would have spent their money differently they would have won a title. GUARANTEED. Cool. Wanna give me the lotto max numbers too please?

Bold Point #2: Bosh never got incessantly ripped?? LOL! Did you just become a Raps fan 2 years ago? The guy could notch 23 + 12 in a game and people would be bitching because they thought he didn't do enough. I remember that game against GS where he ended up with 44 & 15 or something like that and people were all over him because he missed the shot to win the game at the buzzer lol.
