Default Bledsoe for Milsap?

ESPN - link

Quote:
The Los Angeles Clippers' options for dealing Eric Bledsoe, should they reverse course and decide to part with their prized young point guard, appear to be increasing before Thursday's NBA trade deadline.

Sources with knowledge of the situation told ESPN.com late Saturday that there is a level of mutual interest between the Clippers and Utah Jazz in exploring a deal that would feature Bledsoe as the headliner in a trade package for Jazz forward Paul Millsap.

.....more......

C'mon Olshey, Blazers have no bench at all. What the hell, Millsap? He's way better then Bledsoe. Clippers trying to sound like the Knicks with Iman Shumpert. Prized young point guard. Heck, why'd they deal for CP3 and Billups if Bledsoe was all that?

What a heist that would be for the Clips. I hope Utah doesn't bite.

Guess with a healthy team finally, specifically Billups, Bledsoe can be moved and for Millsap? I would surmise that the Clippers would be very very tough to beat. Though I would think the downside would be the "Lakers Syndrome" - sometimes getting all that talent can backfire.

well that would be awesome for the Clips. if they can afford to keep CP3 - Blake-Millsap and DeAndre long term.

Provided that CP3 and Billups can remain healthy it'd be hard not pick them as favourites to come out of the west with that trade.

No... he isn't. He's a PF.

Look at that boxscore... Millsap starts at the 4 and Marvin Williams plays the 3 for them.

SG Demar
SF Rudy

That Clippers lineup would get slaughtered by faster teams.

Hey now, whats all the fuss? Millsap is a forward, he can play both forward positions in the NBA - and he has. Right now he's predominately a PF with the Jazz because his size (weight) and a 7'1 wingspan allows him to hold his own. When he plays the 3 it's usually as a power 3. Height wise I'd say he is an SF as he is only 6'6" barefoot and 6'7-1/2" in shoes but his style of play (esp since he likes to bang) lets him be effective as a 4 or a power 3 - and really it comes down to match ups. On the Jazz, with their roster I would certainly play him at the 4. IF he went to the Clippers, absolutely you would move him to the 3 and have a powerful front court of Millsap/Griffen/Jordan (THAT'S SICK if it happens).

Many here have commented on this point a number of times, the league is chalk full of tweeners at the 3-4 position - Millsap can and has made a very good living playing both positions.

Seems like we have been talking about Millsap's position for a few months now.

He doesn't play the 3 THAT much.... I don't know why everyone thinks that. I don't think he's ever started at the 3. It's just a matchup trick that the Jazz use every so often.

He's not a guy who you'd want guarding Melo, Pierce, Gay, etc.

You might as well have said the Barkley was a SF because he was 6'4".

Melo also plays the 4 spot - Millsap will have to guard him. Same as Lebron when he plays the 4. And several power 3's. Millsap is a forward whose been used primarily at the 4. He can also play the 3 cause he has the ability to shoot from most anywhere including the 3 (which in an earlier post I pointed out his increase usage of that shot) - something Barkley could barely do. Though I would surmise Barkley could be a power 3 as well as a 4 in today's game, much like Millsap is (though Millsap seems to be developing that 3 more).

I do agree though, he has mostly played the 4 in Utah.

Millsap cant play the SF position effectively for long periods of time. Hes a natural PF.

This is one of those trades where if the player, in this case Millsap, had a longer contract, itd be a better trade, but I cant see the Clippers trading for him and his expiring contract without a guarantee of him re-signing. And I somehow doubt Millsap re-signing to be a 6th man in the prime of his career. So because of this, the Jazz win the trade, by far.

Though, if Millsap did accept a 6th man role playing 25-30 mpg off of the bench and signed an extension, the Clippers would win the title this year.
